Hi all,
It has been a long time (since 2004, I think) since any sort of Masters
swimming event has been held in Fairbanks. As there is currently only
one open water swim in Alaska, and it's pretty long (8.2 miles), a few
of us have discussed having an open water swim at Chena Lakes next
summer. We could perhaps have separate 1K and 5K events on the same
day. Anyway, please send me (and not the list serve) some answers to
the following:
1. Do you think we should try hosting such an event?
2. Would you participate?
3. Would you help organize the event?
4. Do you have any suggestions?
To do this we need to get going now, as we'll need to get it USMS
sanctioned in order for us to have insurance coverage, we have to
schedule with Chena Lakes, publicize the events, obtain marker buoys,
and so on.
So, please email me back directly (rherrick@gi. alaska.edu) rather than
inundating the list serve with individual responses, and I'll compile
everyone's thoughts and get back with you.
Robbie
