Hey swimmers!
I have the best bike ride in the entire world coming up and you should be
totally excited and want to join me! Alright, so it isn't quite "my" bike
ride, but its still fun and you get a t-shirt and lunch if you
participate.
I am putting together a team to ride in this year's American Diabetes
Association Tour de Cure (the ADA's biggest annual fundraiser), and my
goal for this year is to have the biggest team with the most people who
ride the most miles and raise the most money. Its marketed as a "ride not
a race" so non-competitive people are hugely welcome, but there are prizes
for the top finishers of each route (10K, 25K, 50K and 100K) so you can
make it competitive if you need to. There should also be some awesome door
prizes in case you still need a reason to join my team (I'm still
canvasing town for them though, so if there's something in particular that
you think would be a great door prize, let me know and I'll stick it on my
list of things to ask for).
So what's the catch? The Tour de Cure is a fundraiser, and while the
Fairbanks area doesn't enforce the minimum fundraising limit, they do
require that you register (although I guess you could unofficially ride
the route on your own and avoid the rest stops, but then you can't win a
fabulous prize).
The ride is on June 14, and all the information you want can either be
found at www.tour.diabetes.org or by emailing me (some of the info online
is a little outdated, like routes and fundraising minimum). Registering is
quick and easy and you should totally join my team of Juggernauts because
it will be fun and exiciting!
Hope to see you there!
Skye
PS. In case you would rather just support me with a donation, that's okay
too, but I promise its more fun to ride! There's also a need for
volunteers to help with registration and water stops and stuff in case
you'd like to help but don't want to ride...
