Girl, the season never stops for the skaters and
I'm one of them. I've been skating all year and my
body knows it.

Doesn't look as though Elvis
will be doing Hershey's Kiss Challenge because of his
groin strain taking him out of NHK which because of ISU
rules disqualifies Elvis to do any opens before
Canadians through to Worlds. Now after Worlds, he can do
what he wants.

It's really a rotten thing when
injury hits a skater who really wants to compete. Your
competitive nature says alright lets go for it but then the
body just can't. Where do you go from there. It's hard
to deal with the let down.

Don't worry too
much because a groin strain is nothing like a groin
pull. Elvis probably had a groin strain during the
1997-1998 season but kept it to himself until 1998
Canadians because once you pull something you can't hide it
anymore from the coach. Elvis wanted to go after the Gold
medal in Nagano so bad he risked it. Now Elvis being
more mature is doing the smart thing and using his
head before it gets really bad. He's being cautious by
getting treatment early and resting the injury so that he
can completely heal in time for Canadians. The groin
strain is a secondary injury caused by his tendonitis in
his left Achilis tendon making him compensate using
more of the right side instead of the left. A skater
does this when they are so eager to compete and wants
to get ready to compete when they are not completely
healed from the last injury. Let's face it, the Grand
Prix events are put together so close together that
the skaters hardly have time to figure out in which
city they are.

If you'd like to send Elvis a
get well card via email, you can send it to
