We've had folks here in S. Indiana have their handicapped child's
upright "granny" trike stolen from their fenced and locked yard.
Thieves will go to any ends to steal no matter what. Recently we had
an armed robbery and beating of a bicyclist take place on our
Greenway. The thugs were aprehended. Also, I might add I have a
license to carry. You never know.

person trying to take the bike under me, I've even had 2 drunks in a
car bad mouth me because I was taking up the road and tried to
assault me as I carry a large folding pocket knife on me at all
times, the passenger got out of the vehicle and I flashed the knife
at him, he took one look at the knife and jumped back into the car
and told the driver to get the @#$% out here he has a knife. so far
I haven't had anymore problems, the problem here in Illinois is
people steal bikes from all around and take them up to Chicago to
resell them or sell them for scrape, if I had my choice id conceal a
small fire arm on the bike for protection because you never know who
or what you will run into these's days

into riding fixed gear I didn't worry as much about locking my bike

broken neck, there really wasn't much use to it.

a thief would have a hard time getting ride of it securely.Unless,
of course, they unload it far away from where it was stolen.
