Re: power assist

Howdy
My Honda 50cc engine is quiet.  Only 60dp and I can listen to my radio if I want.  Today was 54 F and sunny with little wind.  I rode my USX 75 miles.  Just X'mas shopping and dreaming what I woulg buy when I win Lotto, NOT. ;-)
The engine is mounted behind the driver.  Gear-drive to the left shaft that powers the left wheel.  I used 88 cents of gas.  The only bad thing is everytime I stop to shop I am bombarded with questions about power-assist (both gas and electric motor questions).

I think by the year 2010 we will have EV that go 100+ miles per charge and have a charge time of 2 hours or less.  Just think of all the govt regulations against electric anything.  Too quiet, scares people.  Some kind of noise making device must be added to all EV's.  It's for the kids health and welfare.  There should be a mph limit to how fast these EVs can go, because it's for the kids (they might get hurt if they go too fast).  There should be a yearly special user tax that only EV owners must pay, because it's only fair that EV owners must pay to equal tax amount gasoline tax pavers pay at the pump.  Etc, Etc...

I love the idea of a prefect GREEN Earth, but our Congress will never let it happen.  They will come up with ways to ruin it for everyone.

For around $600 you can install EV or Gas power-assist.  Just do it and have fun before our govt takes it away from us.  Note:  I do like the idea of added weight on the front.  My front end gets a little light when blasting up steep hills.

I have thought about a gas engine option like staton. I like the idea of extended range with a gas engine, but the noise level is a show stopper for me. One...
