I have thought about a gas engine option like staton. I like the idea
of extended range with a gas engine, but the noise level is a show
stopper for me. One consideraion I had is to use a very low noise 1000W
generator (both Honda and Yamaha have 55 dB versions), mount it on a
trailer along with a 36V or 48V power supply and use this setup when I
want to go long distance. While not the most efficient solution, this
gives me the long distance option. For short distances, batteries work
just fine.
