Hello Everyone,
I just joined the group and have some questions. First I'd like to say that I found out about recumbent trikes a couple of years ago but at that time didn't see a need for one in my life. I have some physical limitations but have always been active and cycling was one of my favorites. I've owned everything from a high end Italian road racing bike to a low end 35 pound beach cruiser and have loved them all.
So what brought me to this point of planning to buy a bent? One word: Roux. I have to explain that Roux is a nine month old highly active Belgian Malinois mix I adopted from the pound a few weeks ago. I had actually been looking for a year and thought it would be great to have a dog trot along side my beach cruiser as I rode through the neighborhoods. I'd have companionship, a feeling of safety, and a reason to get out and ride on days I might other wise skip.
The plan sounded great, but I had no idea how strong these dogs are. If I were to take her out with me and she gets a whiff of something off to the side, well I could just see me being drug, bike and all.
I belong to another yahoogroup and a few people ride bents and it dawned on me that this could be the perfect way for Roux and I to go for rides/walks together.  Because I have some issues with balance I wouldn't have to worry about her pulling me over and with the lower center of gravity I really think it would be perfect.
Once I thought of it I began looking and realized the Delta style would be the one I needed because it would be easier to get on and off of. Next came price...I should have gone to collage like my Dad told me LOL In other words price was a big factor.
Someone recommended the EZ3 USX and for what I'll be using it for I think it would be good..
I had planned to call the bike shop and have them order one but I received an email today from a friend saying they were coming out with a new version of the USX next spring. Since you guys are already "into" them, can anyone tell me if they have heard about the 08 model. Of course I'd like one now, but if they have made a significant improvement on the design or components I would hate to regret not waiting.

Another question. I've only seen them as they look in the catalog. Can someone send a photo of someone actually using one? I'm curious to see just how you sit in relation to the pedals. Also, are any of you my height (5'5") and how's the fit? I did measure myself with the recumbent instructions but am curious to hear from people with first hand experience.

Oh do you guys use toe clips or clipless systems?

Any thing annoying about them? If you had had a little more money (say 500 or so) is there another trike you wish you had instead?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Jules

Thank you! I wish they'd had more info on it though. I guess I'll put off ordering until I can find out about the features and price (but I want one NOW LOL)...

Jules: Clips work well as the foot stays on the peddle and you won't drop it and run over leg and blow out your knee which would hurt bad. It increases power...
