From the Philly Inquirer

Healthy again, Snow raising his game
By Ashley McGeachy
Inquirer Staff Writer

He has shed about 10 pounds and, finally, after off-season ankle
surgery and preseason thumb surgery, Eric Snow is comfortable on the
basketball court. It shows in his play.
The 76ers point guard has 76 assists and only 16 turnovers in the
last 10 games. Against Toronto, Boston and Cleveland this week, he
has made 50 percent of his shots and averaged 11.3 points.

Following the Sixers' win over Cleveland on Wednesday night, coach
Larry Brown praised Snow for his dogged defense on Andre Miller, who
missed 10 of 15 shots and scored 14 points, nearly three below his
season average. Brown, too, has noticed a difference recently in Snow.

"He's been great," Brown said yesterday after the Sixers practiced
for tonight's home game against Indiana. "The guy has pins in his
foot, pins in his hand and never missed a practice, never missed a
drill. And he's just getting better now. He's just finally getting
healthy. He's defended about as well as you can defend, and has
played about as well as you can play. . . . I think it's only natural
that he's just finally getting himself in the kind of conditioning
that will allow him to play through all these injuries."

Snow is not a flashy point guard such as the Nets' Jason Kidd. He is
not especially speedy, like the Pacers' Jamaal Tinsley. But he is
solid and, with Allen Iverson sharing the backcourt, that is what the
Sixers need.

"He's been playing well," Iverson said. "And we need that. He's a
point guard. He's running the show out there on the floor. He's
getting guys in spots. He's playing tough defense. He usually has the
toughest assignment night in and night out, and he's running our
offense.

"He's playing like we expected him to play. It's nothing shocking to
me. We expect Eric to play like this. This is the way we need him to
play for us to be successful. If Eric doesn't play well, we're going
to struggle."

Nice to see Eric beginning to assert himself. He another couple of
great game over the weekend against Indiana and Atlanta. Hopefully
he can keep up the good play. Iverson needs all the help he can get
with Mckie and Coleman both out.
