Re: [erctrisquad] Marathon - Sunday 11th June

Dear Peter,

I would like to help Marshal on the 11th June at the Marathon- I've helped at the last two and quite enjoyed myself.

Subject: [erctrisquad] Marathon - Sunday 11th June

Dear all

Over the last couple of years the tri section of the ERC have helped out as cycle marshals on the Edinburgh marathon course. This is actually a really good way to see the race as you can move around by bike and only involves a couple of hours commitment.
If you would like to help as a mobile cycle marshal please contact me ASAP.

For each marshal on duty the club receives a donation which goes towards swimming pool hire, and each marshal will be given a packed lunch and a designer T-shirt.

Everyone who comes to swimming as well as other club organised activities and training sessions benefits from the good will and precious time given by a relatively small number of people. These sessions are in part supported by events put on by club members throughout the season. There is now a large number of people attending these sessions (70+). Perversely the bigger the club grows the more time is demanded from the few.

So on the principle of many hands make light work we are going to repeat last year's policy that everyone should help out with at least one thing during the year no matter how small, one morning a year marshaling at an event isn't much of a commitment when you consider what you get in return. You can contribute to the running of your club and your sport by volunteering as a race marshal at any of the events below:-

May 13th Edinburgh Triathlon/Duathlon
June 11th Edinburgh Marathon
July 16th Firth of Forth Triathlon
August 13th Portobello Triathlon
September 17th Portobello Aquathon

If you were planning to take part in all of the club Triathlon,Duathlon or Aquathon events then don't worry as the Marathon on the 11th offers a good opportunity to help out the club without getting in the way of racing .

Thanks in advance
