Thanks to everyone who has responded about the race practice day.
So far we have 9 definites.
If there is anyone else thinking of coming please let me know, it will
help us plan the day.
The emphasis is on practice rather than hard training. The format will
be something like (to be confirmed),
1. Swim time trial over 750m in race format, a chance to see what it
feels like to do 30 lengths while trying to draft the guy in front and
count your laps. We'll have lane counters as well.
2. Swim to bike transition practice, handy for working what to wear and
how best to put it on when your soaking wet.
3. Change into cycling gear and then go on a steady group ride around
the bike course for familiarisation.
4. Bike to run transition practice, how not to fall off in front of
everyone, Bruce to demonstrate.
5. Run time trial on the run route.
We can leave our kit in the changing rooms in between disciplines and
use the showers afterwards.
Also Ben has kindly offered his place down the road for a bring your own
BBQ afterwards, if the weather is ok.
Cheers
Jim

Dear all
The ERC tri-squad sub committee have been working to provide a
practice
day specifically for traithlon beginners, novices and anyone who
would
like some practice of racing.
We have booked Dalkeith School swimming pool on Saturday 9th May
from
3pm-4pm. This is the venue for the up and coming Midlothian
triathlon.
Several of the club coaches led by Martin Gore will be on hand
to offer
advice and specific training in racing including transitions.
We intend to do a 750m time trial swim in a race format then
swim to
bike transition practice. Then we will change and go for a cycle
round
the 20km bike course. Then bike to run transition practice,
before going
for a run along the 5km run course.
If necessary we will split into different speed groups. The
emphasis
will be on getting ready for your first triathlon and knowing
what to
expect, what to wear, rather than a flat out training session.
We can
leave our kit in the changing rooms and can use showers after
the run.
Exact details will be available nearer the time, so keep the
date free
and please email the group back if you intend to come along, so
that we
have an idea of numbers coming.
This day is intend ed for ERC club members and prospective club
members.
Please feel free to forward this to anyone who may be
interested.
Regards
Jim
