Unless the "private email" you received was from the Outgames Finance Director, Communications Director, or Staff Member, your source is misinformed. My sources are the aforementioned, who I know to be very careful about the facts they publish.
To be clear, the 9,480 registrants included in the press release are paid registrants. Anyone who has "signed up" on the Outgames secured website, but NOT sent Montreal any money is NOT included in this figure. I have been told that if non-paying registrants were included in the total, the number "easily exceeds 10,000." However, because of invalid and in some cases, intentionally "fake" submissions, these non-paying submissions are not counted in the published total.
In the future, please be mindful of using our group email. We currently have 120 members (and counting) that receive group messages, so unless the issue is something you strongly believe the entire group needs to know, please direct your emails to individual members.
