For those of you who have never been to a GLBT quadrennial Games, you should consider getting tickets now to some of the following events which are not covered by your registration fees:
  • OutSplash! - Think Ester Williams meets Donna Sachet and Priscilla Queen of the Desert in the middle of an Olympic-sized pool.  This is a quadrennial sellout event, so get your tickets early!
  • GrandBall and Dancesport Competition Finals - Believe it or not, the ballroom dancing competitions and finals are crazy wild fun.  Fans (usually country-based, especially the Europeans) scream and cheer for their favorites.  It's more like being at a WWF event than the prom.  The best of the best perform at the GrandBall show.
  • Masquarade on Ice and Figure Skating Finals - What could be gayer than homos in figure skates - with fabulous costumes no less!  Same-sex couples and skillfully entertaining routines make this a must-see event.
  • Physique Finals - Hot muscular bodies with very little clothing.  Need one say more?
  • Choral Festival - Hear our very own SF Bay Area groups: Colla Voce and GAPA Men's Chorus perform their gorgeously musical numbers.  It promises to be an international singing extravaganza!
  • Cultural Festival and Parties - Welcome, Opening, Closing, Leather and Bear parties are not included in your registration fees, so if you're interested in dancing the night away with some of the 16,000 athletes and artists, not to mention all the folks in town as spectators and visitors for Montreal Pride (which happens simultaneously with the Outgames), then you'll want to get tickets to these events as well.
Finally, remember that registered athletes and artists are part of both the Opening Ceremonies and Closing Ceremonies, so no tickets need to be purchased.  Guests who are spectators will need to buy tickets to these events.

I've not yet been told what time the team line-up for opening ceremonies begins, but guess that it will probably be sometime in the afternoon since the show starts at 6:30pm.  Once we get official word, I'll pass it along so you can plan accordingly.

See you Sunday at METRO!
