rance looked like they could beat anybody while
England looked like they could be beaten by anybody. They
gave France way too much space in the midfield and
never even challenged them from defence (!!!). If you
don't go for the ball, you won't bloody get it much! It
was as if they were waiting for France to lose
possession on their own. Ince and Dixon shouldn't have even
been on the field. Pathetic. Okay, so it's been a
while for Dixon - maybe it should be longer. Was
McManaman injured? Why wasn't he on the team? Anyway, if
England played like lions against Argentina (and they
did), they were little kittens against France. Zidane
was a pure joy to watch. It's great to see someone
with so much skill be able to use it - well, he had
plenty of room to do just that didn't he? I hope this
gets sorted before Poland rubs our face in it come
March.

ony banks has to be the biggest fool in history.
Our supposed sports minister. He said that anyone who
knew anything about football would no that beckham's
red card was not why england went out of the world
cup even te coach said so. he then was a key person
in sacking Hoddles.

can't believe Hoddle got sacked. it s that scum
bag david davies, his supposed friend who wrote
hoddles famous book.
What a wanker. I am going to
England France, and I had a gut feeling england were to
win it. Probably one of drewerys vibes. Since his
depature it has gone.

suppose going on past history it was
inevitable. Another England manager bites the dust thanks, in
my opinion - and that of the majority I`ve spoken to
and heard on the radio, to the Press.
So, what mug
wants for the job now? Who in their right mind would
want this job?
Like it or not, believe what you
read or not, Hoddle was a good coach for England. His
bottom-line results, in comparison to previous England
managers, equalled or bettered the last 4
out of
5.
He didn`t lose his job on the failure of his
performance as an England manager on the football side of
things (which he was paid and honoured to take care of),
but instead on his 'off the record' comments that
were quoted by a reporter for The Times on his
religious beliefs. Personally, in hindsight, he should have
kept his mouth shut ... it`s the easy option. Instead
he has been persecuted for his beliefs by a minority
whose sole aim in life is to make money at the expense
of others.
Perhaps not all the blame should be
directed at the Press. What about the Nationwide, the
England sponsors? Would the FA have made the same
decision had Nationwide not so publicly threatened to (as
good as) pulled out of the sponsorship deal.
Perhaps the main blame does, in fact, lie with the FA...
giving into the Press and to Nationwide.
The bottom
line is this. As England supporters, we will lose out
once again. Our desperate need of consistency is
doomed once again. The best result for us will be for
Terry Venables, who handed over the job to Glenn who
continued admirably through some testing times, to take
back the reigns. Then again, who could blame him for
turning down English football`s greatest 'honour'?

haven't had the "pleasure" of reading Hoddle's
comments about the disabled, but I did hear about it on TV
this weekend (the abridged version, I'm sure). What I
did hear surprised and disgusted me. Not too long ago
I saw him having a kick about with some amputees,
and he seemed quite sympathetic but not
condescending, and certainly not cruel. But I believe he did say
this crap, and certainly believe he should pay for it.
He has about as much tact as a fart in a lift, as we
saw with "His Story" being published so shortly after
the World Cup. That tarnished him first in my eyes,
this new story just proves me right. He's done well in
managing the team, but who wants to be associated with an
ass like that? That said, his sacking should wait
until after the Feb 10 match, so as not to mess up the
team too badly. The team should come first here only
because it is so close to the match and finding a
replacement so soon would be difficult.

ere we go again - possibly the end of another
England manager at the hands of the Press.
Everyone
has a right to their own beliefs and religions and
free speech. That said, those (alleged) words spoken
by such a high-profile public figure surely would
have been best kept to himself. So, where from here.
Has he been brainwashed by Eileen? If so, should that
affect his position in football. Shouldn`t he simply
just learn to keep his mouth shut once and for all?
Would a new manager really solve the problem? History
has shown how the Press appear to win in the end. Why
would any other manager avoid this problem that is so
clearly disrupting any reasonable chance of victory in a
major competition?
Nationwide - stop whinging! If
you don`t like the situation - lump it! Support in
Football is about the highs and the lows as every
supporter knows. Controversy happens. You`re either with
the England Team or against it - it`s make your mind
up time! I`m sure there`s plenty of other sponsors
out there!

It has just been reported that
legal action against The Times is being considered by
Hoddle.

t was a good performance by England. Full Match
reports will be on this site by around 10pm GMT Thursday.
Up until then there`s a short report.
The fall in
FIFA rankings occurred before the game. I guess we`ll
go up a place or two next month.

ello, I am a Canadian England supporter and am
starving for news about the match v. Czech Rep.
To my
knowledge it wasn't televised here at all, and I probably
won't even see bloody highlights on the news (it's
hockey season).
How did the team look?
Oh yeah,
and how does England get ranked one notch lower and
Czech Rep one higher by FIFA?

i, well I don't seem to have time to watch much
premier league football anymore but I NEVER miss an
England game. I won't even say what team I support
because it's too embarrassing :~) . Anyway I'm no expert
on football. I don't know every statistic or
technique like some people but I'm pretty devoted to the
team. That's what's important isn't it?
