Monday 25 August saw Woodbridge MCC host round 4 of the 2008 EMG Eastern Centre Championships at the testing sandy event. Good weather at last greeted the 120 riders and the conditions were excellent. The special test comprised the whole second and third lasp of the event and posed a stiff challenge to all but the few.
Aston Bird Aim KTM has won every round in 2008 and stamped his authority on both tests - nearly 24 seconds faster on his first test and nearly 10 on his second. Jake Nicholls top UK motocross rider was trying his hand at enduros but could not match Bird's pace - aprticularly in the 2 tests. Julian harvey, currently secodn in the Centre Championships was next fastest. The sting in the tail was the lap times which were reduced to 16 minutes for the last lap. Both Bird and Nicholls raced at full MX pace and managed to get in on their minute and Julian Harvey, James Yearley and Mark Chapman took the next 3 positions but dropped a minute on the final lap.
Mark Parker took the expert win from Phil Maltby with Jake Morphey taking third with only Parker cleaning the experts final lap. Lots more clubmen managed to stay clean on time and Adam Leeks took the clubman win from Craig Roper and Andy Quorn.
