A HIGH PROFILE 4 ROUND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP…
A new and exciting cross country race series is being brought to the
UK for 2008 with an emphasis on raising the bar a little from the
current booming off road motorcycle race scene.
The UK's top two XC (cross country) race promoters Paul "Fast Eddy"
Edmondson and Steve Ireland (creator of the Tough One and GB Hare
scrambles) are to join forces and provide a 4 round championship
that will see 2 rounds run at very high profile MX circuits and then
2 rounds run at top of the range Enduro based circuits.
Negotiations are currently underway with several TV programme makers
and one thing is for sure, this series will get on the telly.
More details will be confirmed soon as to naming the venues and
championship criteria and if the venture is successful then the dirt
bike public could expect a much bigger 6-8 round series for 2009.
The series website www.gbxc.co.uk will be live in the near future
and will house all details of the series including how to enter, How
to become an associate sponsor and where and when the championship
kicks off in 2008.

Speaking today Paul Edmondson said: "It's about time me and Steve
got our Heads together and promoted a high profile race series that
is worthy of being called a Great Britain championship. We have some
fantastic venues in the pipeline and with TV coverage along with
magazine and a national press ad campaign I'm sure it will be a real
buzz to be involved with."
Steve Ireland said: "I'm really looking forward to getting into the
new series with Paul and feel that it will have a real high profile
once we name our tracks and the format of the championship...
Between myself and Fast Ed I'm sure it will be done right and give
the UK xc and mx riders a new, fresh and exciting challenge.
