Falleció un fundador de Pink Floyd





En una foto de julio de 2005 cuando participó en un concierto
Live 8 en Londres, se ve a la banda de rock británica Pink Floyd. David
Gilmour (i) Roger Waters, Nick Mason y Richard Wright (d), quien murió hoy
tras una batalla con el cáncer.

El teclista Richard Wright, uno de los integrantes originales del grupo
británico Pink Floyd, murió de cáncer ayer a los 65 años, anunció su
portavoz.

"La familia de Richard Wright, miembro fundador de Pink Floyd, anuncia con
gran pesar que Richard murió tras una breve batalla contra el cáncer", dijo.


"La familia ha pedido que se respete su vida privada en este momento
difícil", agregó.

Wright integraba la formación del grupo de rock progresivo y psicodélico que
en 1967 publicó su primer disco, The piper at the gates of Dawn.

El teclista aportó su voz a algunas canciones de discos clásicos de la
banda, como Dark side of the moon o Wish you were here. Wright pasará a la
historia de la música por haber creado Pink Floyd junto a Roger Waters
(cantante, bajista y compositor) y Nick Mason (batería).

Los tres artistas, que se conocieron en la Escuela Politécnica de
Arquitectura de Regent Street (centro de Londres), fundaron en 1965 The Pink
Floyd Sounds, nombre original del mítico conjunto.

Aunque como compositor no fue tan prolífico como Waters, con quien mantuvo
una agria rivalidad, sí escribió algunas canciones de álbumes tan conocidos
como Meddle (1971), The dark side of the moon (1973) y Wish you were here
(1975).

Durante la grabación de The wall (1979) –uno de los discos emblemáticos de
Pink Floyd–, Wright abandonó la banda por sus diferencias irreconciliables
con Waters, quien amenazó con echar por tierra ese trabajo si no se iba del
grupo.

The Keyboard player Richard Wright, one of the original members of the
British group Pink Floyd, died yesterday of cancer to the 65 years,
announced his
spokesman.

"The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announced with
great grief that Richard died after a brief battle against the cancer", he
said.

"The family has requested his parivacy to be respected at this moment
difficult private life", she added.

Wright integrated the formation of the group of progressive and psichedelic
rock that in 1967 published its first disc, piper AT the gates of Dawn.

The Keyboard player contributed its voice to some classic disc songs of the
band, like Dark side of the moon or Wish you were here. Wright will pass to
the history of music to have created Pink Floyd next to Roger Waters
(singing, bassist and composer) and Nick Mason (battery).

The three artists, who knew themselves in the Polytechnical School of
Architecture of Regent Street (center of London), founded on 1965 The Pink
Floyd Sounds, original name of the mythical set.

Although as composer were not as prolific as Waters, with whom maintained a
bitter rivalry, he wrote some songs of albums so known as Meddle (1971), The
dark side of the moon (1973) and Wish you were here (1975).

During the recording of The wall (1979) - one of emblematic discs of Pink
Floyd-, Wright left the band by its huge differences with Waters, who
threatened ruining that work if he did not go away of the group.
