Hairy Coo

Grass Roots Moontain Bike Race

Saturday 17th October

The Coo has Groo...

This cross-country race has quickly established an excellent reputation and on
one of the favourite courses in last year's poll of Scottish racers. The Hairy
Coo is hosted in the beautiful Perthshire countryside by Comrie Croft Hostel,
which has its own network of handmade trails in the surrounding hills.

Now in its third year, the event will be, for the first time, divided into three
races: the Wee Race (one hour of fun); followed by the Bairns Race; and finally
the Big Race.

The course for the Big Race is a demanding test of fitness and handling,
incorporating forest track climbs, single-track cross-country and gnarly
descents. Beefy!

The Wee race will last one hour and will be held on a shorter easier course. It
is intended to be a fun race. The Bairns race is for the Bairns.

The schedule is;
Wee Race 11 a.m. start
Bairns Race 1 o'clock start
Big Race 2 o'clock start

All the races are divided up by gender and class, with prizes for all
categories. The first woman and first man home in the Big Race will take home
bespoke trophies made by Jane Drysdale of The Glass Studio, Carnellian Crafts.

There will be prizegivings after the Bairns race and of course after the Big
race.

Facilities include hot and cold catering, showers and toilets.

Comrie Croft Bikes has spares.

Then celebrate that evening with the Comrie Croft Barn Dance

10-17 October, 2009 is bringing back some of the excitement of the annual autumn
market that used to give this little Highland-edge town an air of the Wild West!
On offer is a wide-ranging programme of events that celebrates the life of the
cattle drovers, who gained and lost fortunes at the tryst in Crieff.
