Just Fi, Bill, Ian and I (and I thought Ian was Steve Conway at
first - similar height, similar build, similar clothes and it was
pretty dark anyway. On that basis I'm starting to doubt if it was
really was Kylie I met in Espionage. Hu hum!)
Fantastic night to be out, 3/4 moon, clear skies and fantastically
cool and crisp. As a group we got as far as Poet's Glen where Ian's
freehub packed up. It was mostly just spinning free but with
occasional spells of engagement - he limped home trying to keep the
pedals turning all the way.
Rest of us headed on, climbing up through the woods to the top of
Maiden's Cleuch, then cutting across the side of harbour hill and
down to Torduff Resr, bit of a glistening frost and shadows from the
moonlight across the heather. We headed back to Poet's and rattled
down there, finishing with a nifty little bit of singletrack to pick
up the Water of Leith by Juniper Green and so back to Colinton. No
sign of Ian on the return leg so just have to assume he made it...?
Any ideas for next week? I don't think Loz can manage Cloish but
would be cool to do something a bit different.
Cheers
Stuart
