Sweet photos, makes me want to be there. I have that problem where
3.7(my smallest) is way too overpowered. So there is a need for
something even smaller..also i have a waterlogged rastaboard waveboard
(20+lbs) that i use when my other boards are being too violently
grabbed by the wind. Best wishes, john in jupiter

Gigantic Thanks to Charlie at Ride Hatteras for hooking me up w/
3.7m sail that rocked and all the hospitality that sailors can only
find at a place like Avon in Hatteras. OBTW the egg/tater burritos
were the shit! Windsign started rumbling in the midwest as tornadoes
dropped out of a massive system with the lowest I\'ve seen the
jetstream drop and stay, isobars started to stack and the flow was
on!! Drove in from New Bern, NC late Sun missed the rain and sailed
SW side off 30+, Monday went scalar nuclear onshore with NNW 35-45
peak gusts 60+, Tuesday more laminar N 30-40 side on all day long
with pitching port ramps and sky launches like I was kiting or
something. My bone density increased by 50% with the heavy weather
pounding my vertebral column, tendons sting, skin shredded, eyeballs
have sandmarks and salt spray streaks but my permagrin is definitely
is imprinted with the Canadian Hole\'s fury. Saw some stellar fellas
huckin it out there, props all round to the locals who showed up and
played some buck nasty with the Pamlico sound!!

The swell(courtesy of the gail center that whipped up our strong
west winds) appears to be heading this way from the carolinas and is
still being made as well. the wind forecast has lessened in
velocity, but still has good direction. Thursday looks a bit
onshore and lighter in jupiter but ruc is showing later afternoon
sideshore sse 15+ north of the cape to up past jacksonville. Friday
shows more velocity, offshore s-sw around the cape, maybe more
sideshore south down near jupiter, hopefully it will be offshore for
a bit and no chop.. then the seabreeze will force it sideshore for
some classic clean conditions.
A few days yet to finalize the weather details but it looks
promising. Not sure what the coldfront will do for the weekend
(forgot to look before typing), below is nws from the florida offices
(NWS tampa is missing, my fault). This is not summer weather yet.

If you have sailed at the BRR in the last couple of years during the winter season, most likely you met Dominique Vallee.
Preregistered for the event, I was disappointed to see her name removed from the entrant list by the end of the first day in Ulsan, Korea. Guess she didn't officially register at the event site. I knew she was having trouble getting gear for slalom rascing after losing a deal with Edourdo because what had been promised her was not going to arrive in time. This morning I got this email:
I am sponsor by Exocet and I got Neil Pryde rig from Notik shop in Brest (I have the sail until June 15) so I will have to find another deal after.
After driving 6 hours from Brest to Paris, Flying Paris to Amsterdam, Flying Amsterdam Seoul, I took the bus to the Gimpo airport from Seoul airport, Flying Gimpo to Bussan and taxi from Bussan to Ulsan... I finally arrive for the PWA opening ceremony last night exhausted. Gul was already here.
Today May 13, light wind shifting ... thunderstorm... so no race. Rain and cold The shore break is about 1.50m and the wind is pretty light. I sail with 7.8m with the 105 exocet.
I broke fewwww batten in the short brake but seems that any other sailors had spare batten ???!???! Some really nice Korean guy fix it (but unfortunalty did make a hole in my sail in the main panel :(((().
Whatever, everything should be ready tomorow.
Keep in touch!
P.S. Another of the "BRR Girls" who raced last lear on the PWA and is competing this year is Gul Tercan.
My Mom was out of town this weekend so I visited her last Sunday. Glad I did, as it was great sailing up in Stuart on a very wound up 6.4 and 104 Freewave. Pretty flat with the super gusty West wind, but fun none the less.

But i'm still hopeful for late week(except i might have to work). Bad news is melbourne still hasn't mentioned the swell but good news is i still see it on the models, bad news again is nws miami(not the sharpest tacks) is talking about the swell. Quite a few made it to Titusville cswy anyway. I was lit up and doing
downwind runs in the gusts over the knee deep flats on a 5.2 sail and
85 liter board.
One number says it all for me: 4.0. At times over powered, at times just
right and just a few times, a chance to rest when I found the expected
west wind hole.
Wore me out...having so much fun...Shared the day with Mark B. and
family. Mom and Dad are in town to see the new grandchild. Mark's magic
number was 4.2 and as might be expected, he sailed a wee bit more than
me...We both retired from the playground ready for a nap...
Good fun down in Melbourne as well. Mark B. and I sailed of the beach
in Indialantic in the late afternoon. Totally lit up on 6.2s with the
wind increasing as the afternoon wore on. I was lamenting not taking
the time to re-rig to a 5.2, but still a great afternoon.

ruc thinks there could be more south seabreeze today(friday)for palm
beach county. More importantly, Later next week could go off with
sse winds and north swell!! Nothing for sure this far out but it
sure looks promising for some ho'okipa without the rocks.
I sailed a quick late morning session thursday, 4.7 was not often
planing on the way out, almost always on the way in. The board
(freewave 95) just takes off planing on any waveface. spent some
time just outside the shorebreak(the only break) backwinding out,
then sheet in and plane off immediately on a wave, get speed, then
carve upwind and float into a backwind at the top of the peak as it
hits the beach and head out backwinded.. distance was maybe 10-20
yards from in to out. then was opposite.. backwinding heading in
and a wave got vertical and i took off planing and was able to
easily steer the board, and just worked it in the section heading
upwind backwinded down the waveface, then carved out upwind over the
peak as it shorebroke and sheeted in normal heading back out.. that
backwind waveride made my session, it is a bit of a leap of faith to
get planing backwinded and have faith it will work out but it got
easier planing so might try that again soon..
I went out late afternoon again and was fully powered on 4.7, rode
some small waves and overrotated a back loop..
Now i'm just excited about the possibility of later next week. Best
wishes, john in jupiter

OK my friends… first, I just want to say something, All that I did or still do in my life, wasn't thinking ever that could inspire some ones, that never was my intention, I do the things that I do first (and this is most people that know me opinion ) cuz I am Crazy, 2: Cuz windsurfing is more than my life for me (even when I am not that talented has Jason P. or R. Naish )
But with all respect, there is something that I do have about windsurfing "BOLS".. -Sorry- but I can't handle when I hear some body saying "Ohh yeaa… windsurfing is my hobby, it looks so nice!!!" Dude, if you don't FEEELLL the windsurf has an extension of your body, If you don't put names to your boards, If you don't talk to your board when you are sailing at a rocket speed… Then I guess, yes… it most be just your hobby. But not your life. So, now that everybody knows that is not my intention being FUNNY or looks cool or "Radical"… Here is then, "THE SUBWAY STORY".
So…,it tokes me some time but finally I convince my girlfriend to help me in my "Crazy" adventure,… and we went to the subway station here in Nostrand ave. Brooklyn (foto)
Later thursday might have some 20-25 sideshore sse seabreeze up the
entire florida east coast(ruc lighting up north of the cape).. hot
and windy low tide late afternoon..
Today wednesday will have some workable flow but not as much as the
seabreeze will be heading inshore a bit more..
Nice when NWS mentions 'seabreeze pinned along the coast'.

Tuesday was quite the surprise. Daytona N was strong NE by compare.
I had been keeping tabs only on N Brevard on iWind. It filled in at
Titusville cswy by 3:45 or so. 12-20 NE then N. Afternoon SB on top
of some weak gradient...
So my dudes!!!... I will try to do it good and short with my english: April 22th 2004,8:00am,...
I was In Matanzas cuba, and the day after I was sailing as usual with my friends... and the idea of escaping just came to my mind, when we finish windsurfing,I ask to one of my friends to sleep that night at my place cuz I will need his help for something (I didn't tell him what fore) at 6:00am we toke all my gears and put it on the bike trailer that I use to have there (and I'm planing to rebuild here) and we went to "FARO DE MAYA" = "maya lighthouse" a very secluded area at the coast of Matanzas city, the wind start blowing a little bit at 8:30am and around 9 was kind of good enough,So.. then I told my friend what fore we where there (hahahahaa, you just miss his face!!!!, I bet you hem didn't believe it till I just disappear in the horizon... hahhaaaa)
So... from that point was all sailing and sailing till I reach the middle between Cuba and florida THEEENNNN you just imagine the size of the waves (OCEAN WAVES DUDES... OCEAN ONES!!!!) Those don't brake like use to happen close to the beach... this are like titanic elephants, slow but HHHHHHuuuuuuuggggeeeeeee... and because of that, I crash 1 of the 3 times that I crash, cuz i told myself "where and when the hell are you going to see waves like this" so... I ride couple of it... but cuz my gear wasn't the write one (nothing new, back in cuba we never had "the wright things")
OK,MANY OF YOU MOS BE WANDERING WHAT KIND OF GEAR I WAS USING THAT DAY. Take a sit first..,this is going to be hard to believe it: (remember this was in 2004) I was in my 1990's "BIC VELOCE" 3.10 cm (several repairs on it...of course) with just a 30cm fin (wrong one),the foot-traps where just old foot-traps skeletons tided with scot-tape ,the boom was full of epoxy and repairs, the harness line was just 2 pices of rope covered with plastic host and tide to the boom with no more than hand knots (don't make fun of me please... I told you guys,we do and repair and invent anything, just to keep sailing) the sail was a 6.5 bic freelite...
no compass, no maps, just a bar of a kind of peanut butter and 1L of fresh water. (sailing and stopping 15min/h the all trip will be around 8 or 9h) but around 4pm and around 20 miles from one of the florida keys (I guess Marathon key) US coast guard don't give much info, the USS CONFIDENCE COAST GUARD catch me, and toke me back to Cuba (with all that means) but not without give me some documents that finally after 3 years of interviews, the us gov give me the VISA has a political refugee with permanent residence and all the benefits from the gov.
And I become a FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE of communism and dictatorship !PERSON! ... but this my friends is a veeeeeeeery reduce part of the story.... But, if tomorrow one of you want to know more, I finaly are going to be around Conney Island beach and Brighton beach SAILING, that... if I don't get arrested first for carrying all my stuff on the subway... I will be there around 3pm,I don't think it will be hard to find me, not many windsurfers are going to be sailing at the same time...hahahaha....
See you around guys!!!!!!!! good winds for all!!!!!....
PS: If there is any doubt about if all this is true, try to check with the US Coast guard, maybe some one know some one that knows how!!!.. what I remember when I get on board of the coast guard.., more than one of the crew was with video camera and photo camera... and believe me, I will love see some of it!!!!!!!!!!!!! or have some copy!!... who knows!!... maybe thanks to "iWindsurf" I finaly get it!!!!!!!!!!
looking kinda windy sideshore sse thursday, maybe getting stronger all
day.
Yesterday(monday) i collected some bags of seashells at the inlet and
the breeze was plenty strong enough to sail, there was trace long
period swell(tiny) coming in.. the winds got stronger after i left and
it was planing winds late afternoon sse. Had the swell been a bit
bigger, it would have been going offf good all afternoon.
I'm not watching the weather too close, instead trying to get some
work done. But i did notice the cloudline hanging overhead yesterday
and not advancing inland, and that is a pretty good indicator of
sideshore sse locally. Best wishes, john in jupiter

Cool, Looks like a Formula kit but easier to sail with a narrow sleeve
light sail.
Personally, I can't wait to see a planning class for windsurfing at the
olympics. Esp. in the France/UK Channel it is windy enough all year to
get this type of hull going.

On tuesday after seeing the more experienced of the wavesailors challenged at Patrick AFB Clyde had told me to drive by Laurie Wilson Park . It was too onshore for it to work but looked interesting. Yesterday the wind was N and gusting to about 18+/- John I suggested we go for it. These were taken at Laurie Wilson Park after ther wind had turned NE at about 2:45pm. In a true N this could be a fun place. When I showed up earlier the wave was clean and peeling at about shoulder height . Does the wind ever stay N for long? I was out earlier when it was N with a short board and a 6.4. There is a break slightly N and outside that looks sweet and when I fell in the gear stayed around long enough to waterstart out with little penalty. There was some shorepound at high tide I would be curious to see what the lower tide has to offer. Mike C
