Subject: [pccycling] 12 Hours of Pine Log is on the brink of being cancelled and we desperately need help.
All,
In normal years, the Tour de Ranch in the spring provides the funding for our club to hold the 12 Hours of Pine Log race and metric century every fall. This year, due to weather and scheduling issues, we made no money from the event. 13 people were crazy enough to ride. We are running around $2000 in the hole to put the 12 Hour race on as we do every year. We are exploring putting another road ride together to attempt to come up with funds. However, being so late in the year, with most people's plans set for rides and lack of time to get the word out, we are not optimistic that we can raise the necessary funds doing this. The local bike shops have been fantastic helping our events when they can. We would like to limit asking them for help to specific events.
Therefore, I am begging each of you to help find a sponsor. Any business you may know to help sponsor the race. We will place them on the flyers and T-shirts. If anyone wants to be a title sponsors for say $500, we will name the race after them in big print on the flyers and t-shirts.
We also need volunteers to work on race day. We can never get enough volunteers and a few people end up spending hours and hours manning the road crossings for the full 12 hours. That is a horrible way to spend a day. Please help us find volunteers. It would be best if no one manned the two road crossings more than an hour. If we could have you ask family and friends, or if you are not planning on racing, it would be a tremendous help to all.
So, please, help our club out. I will start the ball rolling and pledge to sponsor $200 in the name of AVIAN Engineering, L.L.C.
Thank you for your consideration and help.
