ECC Members

I hope everybody was able to attend the Ride for Silence tonight. There is also another event that you may also want to get involved in this weekend.

A man named Jerre Brimer is leading a team of riders that are riding 1000 miles across the southeast to raise money for charity called Learning Tree, a collection of schools in the Southeast that cater to Autistic and Disabled children/adults. They will be riding through our area this Saturday (Panama City to Milton) and Sunday (Milton to Mobile).

Here is the web site if you want to see more. www.firstgiving.com/jerrebrimer

Eric Snyder from our club is keeping in contact with their progress and is coordinating with club members to try to ride part of the route with them this weekend. Please send Eric an e-mail (SnyderEric@...) or give him a call (897-2602) if you are interested in supporting this group this weekend.

More details below.

Route description

The Learning Tree, a non-profit organization for children and adults with developmental challenges is sponsoring a 1000 mile charity ride to collect donations.  The ride will be done as a relay (several different riders) and take 9 days. The ride will depart from Jacksonville, Al on Sat, May 16 and go through Auburn, Al; Cuthbert, Ga; Douglas, Ga; Folkston, Ga; Live Oak, Fl; Wakulla Beach, Fl; Panama City, Fl; and Milton, Fl; and finish in Mobile, Al on Sunday, May 24.  The Learning Tree Director, Jerre Brimer, is looking for riders to accompany him along parts of his route. We think this is a good cause and some riders might like to accompany him part way between Panama City and Milton, or further.  For example, on Saturday, May 23 he will leave the town of Calloway (east of Panama City) on US 98, turn north on 389,  turn onto Hwy 77 and then turn west onto Hwy 20.  Riders could meet him somewhere on Hwy 20 and ride with him through Niceville and up to Crestview on Hwy 85 and/or on to Milton on Hwy 90.  Some riders might want to go onto the finish with him in Mobile on Sunday May 24, via Pensacola, Foley, Fairhope and Daphne (sounds like a nice ride).
