The Ride of Silence will be held on Wednesday, 21 May starting at 6:00
PM. We will meet at The Landing in Fort Walton Beach. It is a park
located on Brooks Street south of HWY 98. There is plenty of parking
there, along with a restroom and an open area for cyclists to gather for
the ride. The Ride of Silence will start promptly at 6:00, but starting
at 5:30 cyclists will gather at The Landing. Final instructions will be
given at that time, along with a Roll Call of the names of local Fallen
Riders.
I drove the route a little while ago. It's a little over 8 miles. We
start at The Landing and head east on Brooks Street, riding under the
Brooks Bridge to Bay Drive. Left on Bay Drive to Hollywood Blvd.
Hollywood to Ferry Road, then turn right on Ferry. Follow Ferry to
Yacht Club Drive, turn left on Yacht Club. Cross Eglin Parkway and
continue on Yacht Club to Beal. Left on Beal to Hollywood. Right on
Hollywood to Memorial Pkwy (appropriate for this ride). Left on
Memorial to HWY 98. Left on Hwy 98 to Brooks Street and The Landing to
Finish.
All riders must wear a helmet. Ride speed will be 10-12 MPH; NO FASTER!
It's a Ride of Silence to honor our fallen cyclists, so please respect
the spirit of the ride.
More details to follow as they become available. Please pass this along
to others whop may want to participate.
Thanks,
Pat Connelly
