Pine Log:
Pine Log was only allowing co-ed teams this year. Unfortunately it seems
that a few of the women who participated last year are tied up with other
events. So there are a shortage of female riders.
The event organizers of Pine Log decided to allow all male teams after all.
Excerpt from Henry Lawrence:
"12 Hours of Pine Log: According to Dominque DeSercey(814-5178), their are
teams that need female riders to make up Co-Ed teams for the race. Please
contact Dominique if you are interested in racing.
There was some discussion at last Monday's PC Flyers meeting as to Male Only
teams(which we tried last year and only had one registered) they are more
than welcome to race, but the cash prize money will only be awarded to the
top two Co-Ed Teams and top two Solo Male and Female riders.
This was how it is advertised and to late to change it now."
Fat Tire Festival:
Greg Calhoun and I decided to go do the 6 hour race at the Fat Tire Festival
in White Springs on Nov 4th since I have to skip Pine Log. There is a short
kayak, bike, run race on Sunday that we will probably do as well. I think
Pat may also be going, but we probably have room for one or two more. We
reserved a cabin that sleeps 5.
MTB Clinic:
Last November a few of the mtb "chicks" went to a clinic at Conyers taught
by Gene Hamilton
http://www.betterride.net/
He did a bunch of drills and helped us with our form etc.. it was really
useful. A few people have mentioned that they'd like to learn the drills. We
were thinking of putting together a session for interested ECC members to
teach the skills we learned on Sunday Nov 19th in the GERC parking lot
followed by an easy ride at Timberlake afterward. If you are interested and
can commit to making it,let me know. There won't be a fee, but there is some
organization involved, so we need to make sure that people who say that plan
to attend will actually be there.
Lastly:
Give Pat Connelly a big pat (no pun intended) on the back next time you see
him. He decided to "treat" himself to an entry in the 24 Hours of Adrenaline
race at Conyers last weekend for his birthday. This race served as the solo
World Championship this year. Pat finished 5th in his division riding 18
laps.
