This may be close enough for some of ya'll to participate, so thought
I would post info on this race:
The 4th Annual Sharon's Fun ride is on July 29th (Saturday) in
Fairhope, Alabama. This is a 20 mile fun ride starting at the
Fairhope Pier and down scenic 98 towards pelican point and back. T-
shirts, food & prizes for participants.
The Breaker's Criterium is on Sunday July 30th, at the US Navy
airfield in Silverhill, Al (about 15 minutes from Fairhope). This
will be a USCF sanctioned crit with $3,100 in prize money for
masters, grandmasters, women, junior & cats 1-4. Cat 5 and the kids
race (ages 7-12) will receive non-monetary prizes per USCF rules.
Area bike shops (in alpa order: All About Bikes, Bicycles of Mobile,
Cadence120, Eastern Shore Cycles, and Pathworks Bicycles) will donate
preem awards to be distributed during the race. This is a super-safe
course for a crit (no lamps, signs, curbs, etc) with only 3 large
corners (huge triangular airfield), so the course is a place for
first timers or those who want to keep the pace fast. Water bottles
will be given to participants.
Both events start at 8am and are to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation
of Mobile, a 501c3 non-profit.
I will post more info & the application soon.
