You have to go to Jackson Guard in Niceville to get a range pass. Jackson
Guard is at 107 Hwy 85, Niceville (on the right side of Hwy 85 just north of
Hwy 20).
Here is the blurb from the Eglin AFB web site.
"The Natural Resources Branch of Eglin is open Monday through Thursday from
7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Saturday
from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. only. They are closed on Sundays and all
Federal Holidays. Information may be obtained by calling Jackson Guard at
(850) 882-4164 or DSN 872-4164."

WOW! You all sound like a great group! Don't want to be a party crasher
and make the X-mas party my first meeting.
I think I will try Ranger Rd. a couple of times before joining you all on
the longer, faster pace rides. (How do you get a pass to Ranger Rd?) I
could probably hang with the 40 and 25 mile distances. New Years ride
sounds like fun -- please let me know the details.
Please let me know when I can give you a call to pick your brain -- don't
want to interfere with work and personal time.
Thanks for all the great info. Keep it coming!

Our meetings are the1 Wednesday of every month starting at 6:30pm at
LaBamba restaurant in Niceville. The only exception is for December we are
not having a general meeting, instead we are having our Christmas party the
2nd of December at 6:30 at LaPaz Mexican Restaurant in Destin. Another big
event coming up is the annual New Years Day Ride and picnic. The rides vary
in distance and speed and the times are staggered so we all finish around
the same time to eat. Moe Powers host this ride from his home and it is a
good time. The ride this weekend starts from The Holt Post Office on hwy 90
at 8:30am. It is a 56 mile ride through the Blackwater Forest with plenty
of hills. The Dec 10th ride starts at Ruckel Middle School at 8:00am to
DeFuniak Springs and back. This is a 65 mile ride but there is also a 40
mile option to Mossy Head and back and usually there are a few riders doing
the shorter ride. Also another option for this ride is to go to Bob Sykes
road and back which is
around 25 miles. All the information I have given you hear can be found
in detail in our news letter, The Paceline. You can pick them up in the
local shops and they are also available from our website.
http://members.cox.net/polarman/index.htm Once you go to the web page click
on the Paceline link and then pick the current addition, it usually takes
about a week into the month before the latest and greatest makes it to the
website. One more thing, helmets are required on all club rides. If you
have any further questions feel free to contact me either by email or call.
Looking forward to meeting you.

Dan,
When and where are the meetings? I would love to come to one.
Send me the info on the Saturday rides (5 W's) and I will try to make
it. Milage is probably not the issue (not suggesting I will be doing
a century ride next weekend) but rather the speed. I am usually
passed very quickly by grouping riding together. :-) I confess that
I have never clocked speed or distance. Like I said this is new to
me. I am/was a runner and thanks to years of wear and tear I am
tranistioning to something with a little less impact.
Interested in all the info you can share!
Thanks,
Dee
