RE: [eccycling] Safe Places to Ride?

I sometimes go to CW Ruckel Middle School, on Hwy 285 in Niceville, and ride
out Hwy 285 to Mossy Head and back. It's 38 miles round trip. Hwy 285
doesn't really have a lot of traffic plus you get the luxury of a wide bike
lane also. There is a convenience store at the end of Hwy 285 where you can
get water, powerade, food, etc. if you need it. Hope this helps.

Cya on the road!
Scott

Hi everyone. I know you get a million tourists asking for places to
ride. I grew up in Fort Walton Beach, moved away to Tennessee, and
picked up cycling.

Last time I was down visiting my mother, it seemed sort of tough to
find a safe place to get in 30 or 40 road miles. I started around
Ferry Park in Fort Walton, looped down along the bay towards Brooks
Bridge, crossed over and rode down past Cash's and all that.

Someone told me the only way to get good rides in is to go north of
town, out around Crestview or Defuniak Springs. Does anyone have
some route cue sheets they would want to share?

PS - I ride with the Harpeth Bike Club in Nashville, if anyone ever
comes to Middle Tennessee to ride.
