Subject: 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge
The Chattanooga Bicycle Club is announcing the 2005 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge. The Mayor of Chattanooga has chosen this event as one of three events to showcase Chattanooga and what it has to offer.
The 3-State 3-Mountain Challenge - May 7, 2005 - is one of the southeast's most scenic and challenging centuries. The rigorous 100-mile option will take you through 3 states (Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia) and over 3 mountains (Suck Creek, Sand and Lookout) with a total elevation gain of 9730 feet. The moderate 62-mile option remains in 2 states and crosses 1 mountain. The 25-mile option crosses no mountains but is quite hilly. All the amenities - great sag stops, friendly, helpful support en route, pizza party at end, packet pickup and outdoor expo on Friday night at the stadium, nationally acclaimed 4 Bridges Art Festival across the street at the pavilion, opening celebrations of the new waterfront development, all the extras for a great event! Several convenient downtown hotels are serving as host hotels with a limited number of rooms reserved for the event at a special rate. Teams of five or more and tandem pairs are encouraged with a $5 discount per person. Funds raised will benefit the Bethel Children's Village and other local charities.
We are really excited about the 3-State this year. With the Outdoor Expo at the packet pickup on Friday at Finley Stadium, the 4-Bridges Art Festival at the First Tennessee Pavilion and all the new improvements to the waterfront area in Chattanooga, it will be a whole weekend of fun and challenge for you and your family. We have several host hotels this year to give you a choice for accommodations. Last year the rooms filled up fairly early and even though we have reserved more this year, I would encourage you to make your reservations as soon as you can. Also they will only hold the rooms for us until April 1.
The event jersey for this year will be posted on our website as soon as it is finalized. We will again be offering a sleeveless option. The sizes should run similar to last years - the men's is a club cut which runs large. We have to commit to the breakdown of sizes and styles for the jerseys by March 1, so to be sure of having your correct size and style for pickup at the event, please get your orders to me immediately. If you have already registered and decide later that you want a jersey, you may order one through active.com by taking the jersey only option and indicating that you are already registered.
Flyers for the event should be mailed within the next several weeks. However more detailed information and applications are available on our web site -- www.chattbike.com -- and online registration is available from our web site or from www.active.com. Contact for the event is Daisy Blanton, 706/820-1157 or DaisyBRider@.... Please contact me for flyers for this event.
Thank you for your support!
