Hi Justin,
Welcome to the area. You almost made it to the ride start. Ranger camp
road is the road before Timberlake road, which sounds like where you were
at. People mtn bike from both roads. If you are coming from Eglin AFB,
then ranger camp road is the first road on right after you pass through the
intersection of Lewis Turner and hwy 85.
The ride starts at 5 pm sharp. You will need a range pass to ride out
there. You will need to go to Jackson Guard in Niceville. It only cost $5.
The ride is out and back 32 miles with two stop signs. There are usually a
few different levels of riders out there. The fast group typically averages
between 24 - 26 mph depending on who shows up. Usually the ride breaks up
into different groups and some turn around early (at the 2nd stop sign)
which gives them 27 miles.
Anyhow tomorrow (thurs 5-20-04) there is a 10 mile club time trial on ranger
camp road. The club does this once a month (third thurs). it starts at 5
pm sharp.
If you have any questions please let me know or there are many other helpful
people in the club that would be glad to answer any questions.
Rachel Massey
