Hi Bob,
I came down from Maryland in 1999. I lived in St.
Mary's county. The Bike riders have quite a few places
to ride so we get spread out.
The club has quite a few rides to offer as well there
are social rides, workout/training rides, and the
un-race (all out) Tusday night ride.
Quite a few of the best places to ride are off the
public roads, on the Airfore Range. That requires a
recreation range pass, only $5. They also make sure
you get a 5 min. video into to the range and the all
important range map telling where you can and can't
go.
There are 2 good "hills" rides Knox hill loop where
you can get 1900 ft. in about 40 miles.
My current favorite is Bob Sikes (from 285 to
Defuniack). I have some directions and profiles on the
clubs "file" area on our Yahoo group. In a 38 mile
ride we get a 8 mile warmup 24 miles of hills (1900
ft. climbing) and 8 mile flat back to the cars.
