Friends...this is not a hoax. You may want to pass this on to all family members and other friends who have a Florida Driver's License. Brad brought this e-mail home from the base:
It is a real State policy under the freedom of information act that they can release the information that is printed on your driver's license. The Florida DMV is authorized to give out (sell for $10.00) your personal information to anyone (name, DOB, phone #, address, SS#, Medical disabilities, etc) with no problem.
You can go to the State of Florida web site and block the DMV from passing on any of your information. Go to http://www.hsmv.state.fl.us and click on "ON LINE DRIVER LICENSE CHECK to verify if your driver's license is valid...once it verifies that your license is valid or not it will let you know whether or not your license is blocked and it will give you the opportunity to block it at that time by following the instructions.
It only takes about 30 seconds to do this.
