The Ontario Hell's Belle is the flagship bowie knife of the Ontario
Knife company. They collaborated with legendary knife-maker Bill
Bagwell (former Soldier of Fortune columnist) to create a production
version of his legendary Hell's Belle design. This bowie knife style
is the favorite of Comtech's James Keating.
The blade is 11", QS13 stainless steel, with a 17" overall length,
and weighs at about an ounce. The guard is a "devil's horn" style,
designed to trap and disarm any weapon that could otherwise "defang
the snake." The handle is pakkawood. The knife also has a razor
sharp false-edge, to deliver the infamous bowie "back-cut."
This particular model is what's called a "factory second": meaning,
other than a cosmetic blemish, the knife itself is as functional and
competent as a factory first! Considering that factory firsts start
at $200 a piece, you can imagine why a "first" has to be perfect in
every respect. Aside from a slight exposure of the industrial epoxy
used to cement the blade and guard together, the knife is perfectly
functional and ready to put to use.
why am I selling it, if it's so great? Simple: I need to make room
for a custom from Mr. Bagwell himself!
