Another heavy EBFG tournament participation this past weekend . . .
There were five tournaments at Cardinal Fencing Club this past Sunday
and EBFG had fencers in four of them and won two of them outright!
In Y14 Men's Epee, out of 20 fencers, Thibault Philippine came in 7th
and Matt Philippine came in 10th. This was a tough tournament - the
boy who came in first, Ian Bloise, has placed fifth in Senior
tournaments fencing adult fencers. So great job, Matt and Thibault!
Next, in Junior Men's Epee, out of 25 competitors, Andrew Brewer came
in 12th and Cameron Parker came in 14th. Neither of these guys has
been fencing epee for more than a year and are doing remarkably well
in tough competitions.
In Senior C and Higher Mixed Epee, Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu can bask in
the glory of first place out of 33 fencers. Ahhhhh! Paul Chandler
came in 8th, Todd Russell came in 9th, and Mark Wheeler came in 10th,
pretty much sewing up the upper places. Matt Rock, who has been
hanging out with us a bit and who is a very nice fencer and a snappy
dresser, came in 13th. Jonathan came in 16th, Solomon Weingarten came
in 25th, and Juliette Flores came in 28th, and John McGrew came in
32nd, so you can see how we were just all over this one.
You're asking where Keith Lichten came in . . . well, he was in
Boston, and I'm trying to find his results, but I can't yet, so I'll
have to let you know later. It'd be funny if he came in first - then
how will we work that out with Mehmet???????
In Senior Women's Epee, out of 20 fencers, Juliette Flores came in
first! Congratulations, Juliette! Deborah Wang came in third and got
her D2008! Hurray, Deb! Sharon came in 15th - we love you, Sharon!
And the beat goes on . . .
