Hey everybody!
We will be having a tournament for all our youth fencers on Saturday,
November 1, from 10am to noon. The purpose of this tournament is two-
fold - one, we want our kids to have a great time, and two, we want to
start teaching them tournament protocol so when they go out to fence,
they have some sort of clue as to what is expected at a tournament. :)
We'll be going over how your weapon is going to be checked, what is
expected on the strip, and why and how to avoid yellow and red cards
(and black cards). And there will be prizes for first, second, and
third place!
It will be an "electric" tournament, meaning we will be using electric
equipment. Many of you have your electric foils, body cords, and lames,
but for those of you who would like to order a foil, body cord, and/or
lame before the tournament, call Beau Mitchum. He is the man who's been
coming down and helping everyone gear up. His number is 523-5274. As it
can take up to two weeks to get equipment, I'd recommend calling sooner
rather than later if you want your equipment before this tournament.
Any adults who would like to learn or refresh themselves on tournament
protocol are welcome to come on down as well!
