In the Youth 12 All Mixed Epee (Y12AXE), which took place in San Jose, our own Matt and Thibault Philippine took first and second – congratulations, guys! I actually have a graphic to go along with this - a very nice picture of Matt and Thibault and their medals and all - and I cannot get it to show up here to save my life. Anyone know how to post pictures on a message like this? Because that would be so very, very fun - to have pictures of all of us at tournaments, all looking our best, our hair perfectly coiffed . . . . . .
And then there was the Sierra Nevada Open, one of the Pacific Coast Series tournaments. We were just all over that tournament. There were four categories in which we competed: Mixed Epee, Mixed Foil, Women's Epee, and Vet Combined Mixed Epee.
For Mixed Epee, out of 56 competitors, Keith and Mehmet took first and second (no, this is yet another tournament with these results J ), Dylan Case took 7th, Mark Wheeler took 11th, Cameron Parker took 19th, Billy Carson took 27th (that's right, Billy the foilist, who has a U in Epee, which just goes to show you that sometimes low ratings mean absolutely nothing), and John McGrew took 45th. It didn't list, in the results, any new ratings, but there have to be, given the size and rating of the tournament . . . keep your eyes on the results at AskFRED.
In Mixed Foil, with 36 competitors, Billy Carson (that would be the same Billy Carson, in his more usual category) tied for 3rd and got his B2008. Congratulations!
In Women's Epee, out of 32 competitors, Juliette Flores came in 6th, Susan Powell came in 17th, Lydia Breksa came in 30th, and Sharon came in 31st.
And, last but certainly not least (this just happens to be the order in which the results were posted in AskFRED), in Vet Combined Mixed Epee, out of 25 competitors, Mark Wheeler came in first, Jonathan Jeffries came in 13th, John McGrew came in 14th, and Sharon Parker came in 20th.
And the tournament season has only just begun . . .
