Sorry it's taken me a bit to report – it's been a bit crazy lately.
We had three tournaments on Sunday, September 7th – Youth 14 Girl's
Epee (Y14AGE), Junior All Men's Epee (JAME), and Senior C and Higher
Mixed Epee (SCHXE).
There were two girls in the Y14AGE, which, if you ask me, is my kind
of tournament. Everybody fences everybody, and everybody gets a
medal. I don't know about you, but when I finish a tournament (i.e.,
when I get taken out in the D.E.s), I want something that shows that
I was there. A nice certificate? A small piece of chocolate? Anyway,
that's what rocked about this tournament. Everybody went home with
something.
Next was JAME. Not everybody went home with something, as there were
15 fencers. But our own two fencers, Cameron Parker and Andrew
Brewer, came in 10th and 12T (tied for 12th) respectively, and it was
Andrew's first tournament! Good work, guys!
Then came the SCHXE . . . oh, man. You know, I highly encourage
people to come down and watch on tournament days. It's so much fun.
There's just no adequate way to describe it. But that won't stop me
from trying. :)
Keith Lichten, Mehmet Tepedelenlioglu, and Dylan Case took 1st, 2nd,
and 3rdT (tied), respectively, out of 26 fencers. In addition, Mike
Slater came in 13th, Jonathan Jefferies took 14th, Jim Liebich took
15th, Andy Davis took 16th, Todd Russell took 19th, Michael Albrecht
took 20th, John McGrew took 22nd, Mark Wheeler took 23rd, and
Juliette Flores took 26th. *whew*
We received many complements on our gym, our fencers, and our
generally welcoming spirit. Now that's something worth taking home
from a tournament!
Cheers -
Theresa
