Just a reminder to everyone who is classified as
U,E,D,C or VETERAN in any of the three weapons
U of course being unclassified/novice/beginner.
And are a member of the United States Fencing Association,
USFA, and member of a club in the Northern California
Division. The clubs of interest to this list would be
UC Berkeley or East Bay Fencer's Gym.
The Summer National Championships are July 1-10, 2008 in
San Jose, CA. This is the year's biggie and this year it is
so close that there is no reason not to go if you are
still alive. Guests and visitors are of course all welcome.
But if you want to compete you have to qualify. The qualification
tournaments are this March 15 & 16. The locations have yet
to be filled in. Best guess as to locations are
Foil: Halberstadt in San Francisco
Epee: EBFG (Oakland) or GGFC (San Francisco)
Saber: First Place Fencing (San Mateo).
Details such as location will be announced on
http://www.norcalfence.org/
If you are interested but not yet a member I believe you can
register as a member of the USFA prior to the qualifiers.
As this is the "NATIONALS" participation is limited
to US citizens and Permanent residents who have not
competed for another country in the previous 3 years.
Even if you do not qualify (only the top 25% of the competitors
qualify - there are some tables which detail how many go for
how many people compete) the qualifiers are worth going to.
VETERANS, if you have not participated in one of the NAC's then
you must qualify by participating at this Division qualifier.
The 25% rule does not apply.
If you have questions grab me at the club as ask. Or e-mail me.
