Abdul, Keith, and anyone else interested:
I thought you guys might like to see what another club
has done to build a fencing floor:
http://www.southcoastfencing.com/photo_construction.html
Notice how they laid out the 2x4's under the floor with
essentially a 4'x4' lattice under the 4'x8' sheets of
plywood. A discussion with Michael Pacheco at SFA indicates
that this worked for him in his first floor but you can
see the plys bend under fencers. I suspect he did not have
a lattice but some other layout. In his most
recent addition they have the sheets laid over 2"x4"s on
16" centers rather than 48" which produces a much more
stable floor. With a 48"x48" lattice we should be able to
get fair stability but I would think the 16" in one direction
would be very desirable.
Also notice the little black pads of neoprene they are putting
under the 2"x4"s. With a much flatter floor this is about all
they need. We'll need to build up in places to compensate for
a less than flat floor. And then we will have the presently
in place carpeting for moisture barrier and for some give.
