Dear Boathouse Volunteer
First I would like to thank everyone for helping out over the memorial day
weekend. For the first time in a number of years the weather was great for all 3
days. All 3 locations mostly had lots of volunteers and we put hundreds of
people on the water who all had a great time. So Thanks to everyone for helping
out and I hope people had a good time as well.

We could still use some extra help at 72nd both for opening, closing and to
during the day to make sure people get a chance to take a break.
We would like to suggest that if there lost of people at Pier 96, Say 6 or more,
people or a couple of people should take a bike ride up to 72nd, just for an
hour, or so or if the currents are right paddle a drifter up or have two people
take up a double and use it in the program up there for an hour or so. Thanks

We have pretty high demand for lockers for volunteers at Pier 96. The volunteer
lockers are located by the east door and between the private boat slots. We are
trying to get a few more lockers. Until we get more no one should be using more
that one locker.
There are also a number of lockers without names and we don't know who is using
these. If your name isn't on your locker please put it on the locker. In a
couple of weeks, any lockers that have no name on them will have the locks cut
off the contents removed, and they will be assigned to the active volunteers
waiting for lockers.
if you have locker without a name on it. and for some reason can't get to the
boathouse in the next few weeks. Let us know where and what kind of lock so we
don't cut the lock off.

We are going to start our short new volunteer paddles again from Pier 96. These
will be short, about an hour or 2, paddles aimed at new volunteers getting some
experience on the river. All are welcome. We will aim to launch the first one on
Sunday June 1st, after the public program is over at 6. We expect people to
take the decked in boats and not sit on top boats. You do not need to be on the
authorized boat user list.
If you are unqualified or uncomfortable in decked boat let us know and we will
work on training and comfort. This trips are, of course weather permitting.
If you are interested in leading these new volunteer trips let us know

Finally our June Monthly Public Meeting will be this Tuesday, June 3rd at 6:30PM
at Pier 96. Hope to see you there.
There will be a short orientation for new volunteers following the meeting
