Dear Boathouse volunteer
This is a busy weekend So i just wanted to post what is happening this weekend.
Saturday and Sunday are or last public Harbor trips

We are going to loan a few boats out to a program on Staten Island on Saturday
the 15th. They will mostly be boats that we don't use in or public program. They
will be picked up early on Saturday and Returned on Sunday evening. We need to
make sure that some people are there on Sunday at 7PM to get the boats put
away.

**************************
Friends of Hudson River Park is having a festival. this coming Saturday,
the 15th, at Clinton Cove. It takes place from 2pm to 5pm, and there will
be games, a free barbecue, music and so on. They will set up the
grill and food line along the front of the boat house facing the grass, The land
side garage door will be open. It's blocked off for the most part by tables
that are manned so any old person can't just wander in, The grill will be
delivered beween 9 and 11am, and the Chef will arrive to setup and begin
grilling around Noon. Laura Hughes, the organizer will be there beginning at
9am.

**************************

Taino, fresh back paddling around Puerto Rico, sill be running a refresher BCU
1 Star/2 Star class on Saturday September 15th at 9AM. This is a REFRESHER
course aimed at those who did he BCU classes earlier in the summer. It is not
the full training. This should NOT be your first BCU class.

Mark Gluck writes:

A Roshashana (Jewish New Year) Tashlik ceremony will take place at 5:30pm on
Saturday September 15th in the waters off of the
gazebo on the shoreline park just south of the Pier 96 boathouse. The
ceremony involves ritual Hebrew prayers and a casting of the year's sins
into the waters in the form of bread crumbs which will then be washed away
with the outgoing tide. Those who wish to participate via kayak must
arrive no later than 5pm to get kitted out in a boat. The ceremony will be
ecumenical and open to all DTBH volunteers and the general public.
