Dear Boathouse Volunteer.

There have a number of changes in the board of directors Tim Gamble,
Martin Sweeny and Graeme Birchall have left the board. Jeremy Hooper is
now the acting Secretary and Tatianna Carayannis is now acting treasurer.
There will be more information later about about the board. For now the
most visible change will probably be that I will sending out the
volunteer emails instead of Tim Gamble. I would be grateful for your
patience during this transition as I get up to speed with everything.

This Saturday, July 7th, there will be a new volunteer orientation at
Pier 96 at noon. Anyone who is new to the boathouse or has any questions
about the boathouse and its activities is encouraged to attend


The great Hudson River paddle will be arriving at the Pier 96 boathouse
at about 2PM on July 11th. The boathouse will be open to greet them.

Taino will be running a BCU 1 and 2 star training session on Sunday July
15 at 9AM at Pier 96.This is open to all ACTIVE volunteers. Be there
Earlier than 9 and ready to get on the water at 9AM This a very useful
training session for anyone wanting to improve their paddling skills and
knowledge. There will be an assessment in the fall.

On Friday July 20th we will be running an ebayment paddle for a number of
kids from 12PM-3PM. If can help out contact Sandy Sobanski at

"We will be doing 2 swim escort kayaker orientation classes before the
Triathalon
The first class will b held at the DTBH at 6;30pm on Tuesday July 17th.
Another class will be held at 5:00 pm at the DTBH on Saturday July 21st.
After the class on Saturday-kayakers can paddle up to 72nd St with me,
Sandy Sobanski. Paul Amico will also be hauling kayaks in his truck up
to the tri. Kayakers should contact me if they want to do the triathalon

I will also be at the boathouse way early-- at 4:30 am Sunday-if anyone
wants to paddle up there with me. But they should contact me if they
plan to show up at the boathouse 4:30am that morning.

We are looking at better way to handle our volunteer lists. One of the
things we are looking into is a google group. This means that may get
some boathouse emails from a google address. there may one or two test
