Dear Boathouse Volunteer:

This is a very busy Weekend on The River. Most of these events will not directly
effect our ebayment programs but people should be aware. if anyone is planning
on paddling this weekend out of the ebayment.

Here is a short list of the main events. From the Coast guard notice. Also
expect a lot more boats than normal this weekend.

10:00 A.M. - 2:30 P.M. Flying Dutchman Races will take place at Bay Ridge
Flats. This is basically the area south of Governors Island. and shouldn't
effect anyone unless they are planning a long trip.

3:00 - 4:30 P.M. RESTRICTION
Flying Dutchman Championship Races, Upper NY Bay south/southwest of Battery
Park.
A safety zone will be established on the water between Battery Park and
Governor’s Island.
All vessels must remain clear of this area and utilize existing navigation
corridors.
Passenger vessels must remain south of the Deepwater Range entering and
leaving the East River and utilize the Battery Park or Ellis Island corridors to
enter and leave
the Hudson River.

On Sunday, September 13, 2009:

10:15 -11:45 A.M .
Closing Pass and Review Ceremony. Flotilla of various size vessels will form
south of
Governor’s Island and will proceed south to Buoy R “32” turning north towards
Buoy G “35”. A Dutch Naval vessel will act as a reviewing stand, this vessel
will hold position east of Buoy G “33”. Flotilla will disperse after turning
east at Buoy G “35”.

11:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M 17th RESTRICTION
Annual Super Power Boat Challenge and Race The will close the Close the River
to all unauthorized vessels from the Battery to 24th St for the those 5 hour. In
addition a lot of boat traffic both before and after. These boats are starting
their events on Friday.

2:15 - 4:00P. M. Closing Ceremony Parade of Ships. The flotilla will form
northwest of Governor’s Island and proceed northwest bound to Battery Park,
north bound up the Hudson River to Pier 84
and return to their berthing locations (Brooklyn Cruise Terminal, Pier 84, North
Cove,
Manhattan Cruise Terminal, and Atlantic Basin). Closing Pass and Review
Ceremony.
There are some Miitary ships in the group that are berthed in Cruise ship dock
They will be leaving earlier and arriving back and typically have a 500 Yard
(that is half the river) security zone around them
