Dear Boathouse Volunteer

This Saturday is July 4th. This year for the 400th Anniversary of Henry Hudson
sailing up the River that bears his name the Fireworks are on the Hudson River.
This will effect us in a number of ways:

Our 72nd Street Program will not operate on July 4. They will be open on July
5th and there will be a "July 4th" party on the Sunday at 72nd Street

Pier 96 will run the morning trip going north on the morning of July 4th and our
regular walk up program. However our program will end at 2PM instead of 6PM

Pier 40 will run a walk up program until 2PM. Pier 40 will be locked by 3PM or
so so all people need be off the pier by then.

In addition the NYPD and coast guard are closing the river at 3PM to the
bulkheads. No one is allowed to launch or land from our facilities, even just
to be in the ebayment.

Our Public Harbor Trips contine on Saturday and Sundays. Check the calendar for
days when there are no trips.
If you are qualified and can help contribute to the safety of the trip. Please
come along, however we do not want every volunteer to go and to abandon the
boathouse. If there are enough assistants you may be asked to stay behind at the
trip leaders discretion. If you have assisted with a lot of trips, please be
courteous and let other qualified volunteers have a chance to go out.

If you have your own boat that is appropriate to the Hudson River and New York
Harbor Feel free to join us.

Our regular New Volunteer Paddles on Tuesdays and Fridays, leaving around 7PM.
from Pier 96. The trips are typically 1 to 2 hours of easy paddling, arriving
back before dark. The Aim of these trips is to get new volunteers used to the
Hudson River. We encourage new volunteers come along paddle out in the river.
All active Volunteers are welcome.

During the Day on weekdays we run a number of Special programs for School
groups, day camps and other non- profit organizations at Pier 96 and Pier 40. If
