Hi everyone.  The Winnipeg Free Press is interested in interviewing
dragonboat team managers about the trials and tribulations of preparing

Hey all...
The fabulous females of the G.I. Janes Dragon Boat team are having a
fundraiser on Thursday, September 1 at the Palomino Club, 1133 Portage
Avenue.
The time for the event is from 5-8pm and tix are $10.00 each.
Monies raised will be split between the Janes "Laughlin or Bust Fund"
and the Cancer Society.
Ticket price includes a Steak Sandwich, and a shot or a beer!
(mmmmmmm...beer)
There will be a silent auction, door prizes, 50/50 draw and "Ladies
Night" to follow the fundraiser.
So far I havent been asked to dance at ladies night so I have no clue
what kind of entertainment it may be.
Lets get out and support these ladies in their fundraising efforts.

Practice time is now available for Dragon Boat teams and individuals!
Am email went out to all team managers registered in the 2005 FMG
Dragon Boat Festival with details on how to book practice time in an
FMG Style Dragon Boat.
Cost is $60.00 per hour (3 bucks a head) or if you buy a dozen
practices its only $50.00 per hour.
Practices can be booked by teams or you can put together pickup
practices by posting a message on this site.
Don't wait til July or August...get paddling NOW!
Call your team manager for the details on how to book time.
Paddle and Steerperson Coaching may also be available on request.

Thats right folks, its time to start getting excited about this
year's
Dragon Boat season.
This year's Dragon Boat Festival is stacked with talent, both new and
old, and if you stay tuned to this website, you will be on the inside
track of all that happens in Winnipeg and beyond!
Now is the time to start organizing your team and this site is a good
place to post your Dragon Boat resume if you are looking for a team
to join, and also a great place to hook up with other teams for
combined
practice time.

21 and 22.
While this isn't a Dragon Boat related event, it is a good way for
the Dragon Boaters to get together again for a good cause, and to

Congratulations to the crews of Great West Life Dragonhearts #1 & #2.
Their outstanding fundraising efforts for the 2004 Manitoba Dragon
Boat Festival totalled an incredible $17,295.00 for Cancer research.
That is a mind boggling stat, and Erick should be (and I'm sure is)
so very proud of his crew.
They are a great example of what a difference WE can make as a Dragon
Boat community.

"Dragon Down the Red", Dragon Boat Team is having a fundraiser on
Saturday, October 23, 2004 @ Boogies Sports Bar, located on the
corner of Redwood and Main. (1155 Main Street)
Tickets are $10.00 each, and can be purchased in advance, or at the
door.
Advance ticket sales are preferred, but they will take ya any way
they can get ya!

etc. All the good stuff you expect at a Dragon Boat function.

Way to go Winnipeg!
Another incredible Dragon Boat Festival is in the books as we already
look forward to next years competition, plus the added 250 Metre
Challenge.
We haven't forgotten about the Dragon Boat Paddlers club, but
some "stuff" got in the way during organizing. We didn't want to rush
and go in half ready so we put it on hold until we can do the best
that we can. Stay tuned here for further developments, and if you
have any ideas that you would like to pass on, email me here or post
your thoughts on the site.

Its a week til the BIG competition.
Whats your team doing after its over?
Boogies Sports Bar located on the corner of Redwood and Main is
having a POST COMPETITION BLOW OUT!

After awards are over in the Dragons Lair and almost 5 bucks is too
much to pay for a beer, come on down to Boogies and party with the
other teams you just paddled against.
There will be pizza for those in team uniform, karaoke (Dragon
Boaters croonin' their favourite tunes individually or as a team),
trivia, vlt's etc.
Might even be some dancin' on the bar!
Come on down and check us out. Bring the whole gang.

Only 2 days left until the Kickoff Bash @ Boogies.
Unfortunately, communication problems have delayed notice going out
to the clubs. Hopefully that will be rectified real soon, but be sure

The Great West Life Dragonhearts are having a fundraiser on Friday,
June 25th, @ The Tijuana Yacht Club (The old Polo Park Inn) from 7-
10:00pm.
Joining the Dragonhearts will be teams from Royal Direct, Cangene,
and Blood Services.
Tickets are $12.00, which will get ya a complimentary Fajita and a
beverage.
The teams are donating $6.00 from each ticket sold to the Canadian
Cancer Society.
There will also be a 50/50 draw and a "Jail and Bail" event. (Donate
$2 to charity, and put a friend in the slammer until a good samaritan
posts bail)

The Custom Castaways Dragon Boat team is having a fundraiser on
Wednesday, June 23rd, at X-Cues- 551 Sargent Ave. 6:00pm
Tickets are $12.00 and will buy ya a full night of pool, and ALL YOU
CAN EAT pizza, salad,  and pork sandwiches on Italian Buns!
Of course there will be bevvies at bar prices, along with a 50/50
draw and a raffle draw for a backyard fire pit.
