The Boogies team is planning another Dragon Boat Kickoff Party to start the season with a BANG! Time to renew old rivalries and make some new ones. The only question is, when do YOU want the party? Teams should be organizing now, and if you aren't...get on it! June or July for the bash? Email "Captain Darryl" at dragonboatwinnipeg@... and let me know your thoughts.

I agree with July. the 24th would be good for me as it is the only weekend that month that hasn't been spoken for. Keep in touch.

Captain Darryl,
July would probably be better since most teams will be "up and running" and some/most will have met at practices by then (if its held after the 15th, of course).
Please keep me posted about all the details so I can rally some more support from my team this year.

How's it going? Laughlin was a blast and a must do for next year. For the Boogies kickoff to the season I'm thinking early July.
Take it easy,

Thanks!
I have to agree with Wayne... it was incredible! Ninety-plus
degrees, fast water, great people and parties. As usual, FMG did a
terrific job organizing the event. And, the dragon boaters raised
an estimated $50,000 for the local chapter of the Children's Make a
Wish Foundation.
As most of you know, the Golden Nugget was very kind to the
Canadian teams, and it so happens that one of the owners is also an
owner of Expedia.com. So, over dinner one night, an offer was
suggested...
If we (Canadian Dragon Boaters) can get a minimum of 70 people
together for next year, Expedia.com would arrange an aircraft for
us. And I'm not talking a Beechcraft here! If they happen to be
from, say, Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, they would fly to
each major center, then DIRECT to Laughlin! How cool is that? OK,
OK, you're thinking, "great, but for how much Norm?" Well, how's
$320-$370 US?
I promise, I'll get more information in the coming months, but
think about it, and let your teams know as well. I think this could
be fantastic!
For those of you that couldn't make it to Laughlin, Nevada for the
festival, MAKE PLANS FOR NEXT YEAR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a fantastic time, the people are friendlier than most Manitobans.
The Canadians were treated better
than Kings and Queens. I know for a fact I'm heading back every year
See everybody on the water
Nows the time when all smart team nanagers are preparing for the
upcoming Dragon Boat season!
If you are a team manager who is looking for paddlers, trying to
unload some extra paddlers, or if you are a paddler without a team
affiliation and are looking to find a team, here is your opportunity
to post messages.
Maybe you have a half boat who wants to start practicing! Here is
your chance to advertise for another team's half boat to split the
cost of the boat rental!
Thinking of a fundraiser? Heres the place to advertise!
Lets get busy folks, and make this the hottest (and only) Dragon Boat
gathering place in the land.
Cheers!
Travel plans for air or bus have fallen through, due to cost and
other issues. There are a number of people who are getting there on
thier own by van and such. Good luck to those who are making the
trip, and thanks to Val, Elfie and Ken for their work in trying to
organize the troops.
Unfortunately, the Komodo Dragons will not be able to attend the event in Laughlin this year. Most weren't able to afford it and others had family commitments. We wish all the teams that are going the best of luck, lots of fun and play safe.
There is a meeting on Wednesday, March 10 @ Boogies fo all those who are interested in making the trip to the Laughlin competition. The meetng starts at 6:00pm, and we will be doing final head counts to see if chartering an airplane is an option. Your team manger should ne getting the meeting info from FMG today (Friday). If you have not received it and are interested, contact me with a valid email addy and I will forward it to you. On Wednesday we will be accepting deposits for the plane. We will also be discussing bus and van rental costs. Family and friends are also welcome on the trip, and will bring the cost of transportation down for everyone! Last chance folks...if you are interested...be there!

I don't know if I can attend, as I have a funeral to be at in the
afternoon out of town. I plan on going to Laughlin even if I have to walk.
Talk to you later.
On Tuesday, Feb. 10th @ 6pm SHARP there will be a meeting for clubs
to share information regarding the Laughlin Competition, especially
transportation issues.
This meeting is intended for Team Managers, but if a Manager cannot
attend, we welcome up to 2 reps per team. Other interested paddlers
are welcome to wait in the bar area for their reps if they are
anxious for information.
No RSVP is necessary, but we ask that you try to respect the 2 rep
per team limit.
Any further questions can be posted here, and will be answered as
soon as possible.
Hi. It looks like our team may need a steerperson for the 2004
dragonboat race in Winnipeg. If you know of anyone who may be
interested in steering for an all female team, please e-mail me or
post on this website. Thanks.
Hey Dragon Boaters... Dont forget to pick up your tickets for the
Civil Serpents Fundraiser happening on January 24 @ Boogies!
If you dont already have the info, call someone from the Serpents or
email me for the info. (I cant post the contact number here cuz she
is really hot) Tickets will also be available at the door.
See ya there!
Okay my Cap-e-tan, I'll be the first to start the ball rolling.
Does anyone workout to get ready for the dragon boat racing? I
joined the "Y" to get into shape for hopefully the race in Laughlin,
Nevada and then Winnipeg. How about anyone else?
Who will be the first person to post a message (other than me) on the
message board to start us rolling? I see membership numbers crawling
up, so lets have some fun with this thing and get used to it cuz come
summertime its gonna be hopping on here!
