Boogie's Draggin' Butt is sending 2 teams to Brandon for the July 12
competition, and we are looking for paddlers to fill open positions.
If you are interested in paddling with Boogie's, reply to Darryl at
clubd@..., or you can contact us through our shiny new website
www.dragginbutt.com .
There is no cost to paddlers except for transportation to Brandon,
hotel Friday night (optional) and beer.
Hi all,
The Great-West Life Dragonhearts usually co-host a fundraising social
with another team (or two) in preparation for the Manitoba Dragon Boat
festival. So we're looking for some teams to join us! More teams =
bigger event, and more funds for the Canadian Cancer Society!
Let me know if your team might be interested in co-hosting something
with us in maybe July or August. Then we'll get to work on deciding a
venue, printing tickets, etc. When all is done we'll split the
proceeds between the teams evenly.
Thanks,
Erick
Start your engines!
It's time for the Annual Boogie's Draggin' Butt
"Dragon Boat Kickoff Party".
It's an opportunity to hang and bang with the paddlers of Manitoba
eating great food, enjoying your favourite beverages, playing games and
generally goofing around for an evening with your family and friends.
See the information in the files section of this group.
If your team is having a fundraiser, feel free to post the info on our
message board. Thats why we are here.
If you need help posting your information, just ask, and I will help
you get it "out there".
IT'S THAT TIME AGAIN...
Next weekend (July 27-29) is the 5th annual "River City Dragon Boat
Festival", taking place at The Manitoba Waterski Park, 365 Murdock Road.
(Transcona)
Festivities Begin on Friday, July 27, 2007 • 5pm
Closing Ceremonies on Sunday, July 29, 2007 • 5pm
If you are competing in this year's competition, Good Luck and have fun!
If you are not competing, head on down and watch the event. There is
lots of "stuff" that happens all day and so far the weather looks hot,
hot, hot so pull up a chair in the bevvy tent and enjoy the races and
the atmosphere that only Dragon Boating can provide.
For more info on this event, visit
http://www.rivercitydragonboat.ca/index.html
See you there!
Boogie's Draggin' Butt is considering starting a boat in the rec
division for the 2007 season.
We are toying with the idea, and looking for some interested paddlers
and an experienced steerperson.
If there is anybody out there who may be without a team this year, and
would like to be part of the Boogie's organization, email
dragonboatwinnipeg@... with your name, contact info and team
affiliation.
We will be having a meeting very, very soon and this topic is on the
agenda, so if you are interested, don't wait til the last minute. We
want all interested paddlers to attend this meeting. (and drink beer)
Cheers!
Captain Darryl
Boogie's Draggin' Butt
Hoo Doggy that was fun!
I would totally recommend that people do what they gotta do to
attend this thing next year. Westjet has $99 flights going there so
there's no excuse...unless you hate 39c weather and a private beach 100
metres from the doors.
The Raunchy Rodents from Edmonton were there as well as Fleet of
Foote from Ottawa. I can think of a few Winnipeg teams that would have
had enough fun to get arrested. Sorry I don't have more pictures of the
actual competiton, but I was announcing at the event and didn't have
the time to snap any. One thing I would say is don't buy the $10.00
sunglasses at the local shop. My oversized melon managed to destroy 3
pair of the cheapies in 4 days! Poor quality glasses or overdeveloped
cranium...you decide.
Boogie's Draggin' butt is thinking of entering a team in the FMG Lake
Las Vegas competition on May 4 and 5 / 2007.
We are looking for some interested, experienced paddlers to fill the
boat.
Registration is already taken care of, so all you would need to pay for
is transportation to and from Vegas, accommodations while there, beer,
bail and maybe some food!
If you are interested, or have any questions, email the unsinkable
Captain Darryl @ clubd@... with your name, gender, current team
affiliation and anything cool we should know about you, if anything!
Hey all, check out the upcoming River City Dragons fundraiser!
More info about it in the files section of the group.
We can't beat them on the river, but we have a chance of outlasting
them in the bar!
Hey all!
Check the files section for some more upcoming fundraisers being
thrown by local Dragon Boat teams.
Its a fun way to help support the local teams and have some fun to
boot!
Hi everyone! Congratulations to all the trophy winners and especially
to FMG for hosting yet another great year.
Just a short note to inform everyone of a fundraiser Komodo Dragons

the Dakota Lanes in St. Vital. Anyone requesting tickets ($10) or
would like to donate to our silent auction can contact me by email,

Thanks to all.

Komodo Dragons race team
Hey everyone,
Another great FMG Festival has come and gone, and the results are
posted in the Files section of this group.
Congrats to all that participated and especially the River City
Dragons who walked away with the "Big One".
You have until this Friday to register your team for the Grand Forks
competition taking place on Saturday, Sept. 30 so scrape together your
team and lets get stupid in Grand Forks!
I hope to see a bunch of you at the Deceiving Dragons fundraiser this
Thursday at Triple B's Bar and Grill on Henderson Highway!
Info on that can also be found in the files section.
More fundraising info coming up soon, so stay tuned!
Everybody is invited to a Post Competition Party at Boogies, right
after the awards are given out at the Forks Event.
Karaoke and such are on tap!
See the files section document for more details.
Good luck to everybody next weekend.
Here's an invite to all to join the WNABS teams party it up! Social
is Sept 23rd at Regent Park Banquet Centre (701 Regent) and it's from
8pm till 2am! There's going to be a great Dragonboat prize package up
for grabs as well!!
Marcelin
Boogie's Draggin Butt would like to thank everybody who came out to
our Kickoff Night on Friday!
Thanks also to FMG for helping us promote this event.
Looks like the "Dirty Oars" are the party team to beat this year.
The Oars stripped down (literally)to gain an advantage in the "Spoon
Race" (see photos in the files section) and won first AND second
prizes.
Many teams were represented at this function and it seemed that all in
attendance had a great time. Nobody fell off the tables while dancing
late into the night, so it was deemed a success!
From Smokin' Hot Doris from Boeing to the ugly mugs from Boogies all
represented their teams with the class and dignity that we have come
to expect from Manitoba Dragon Boaters.
At the end of the night it was the "Dirty Oars" who were left
standing. (wobbly, but standing)
Boogies looks forward to seeing you all for their Halloween Fundraiser
taking place on Saturday, October 28/ 06.
Hey all!
There is a Dragon Boat Party happening at Boogies Sports Bar this
Friday, August 25.
Prizes, Games, etc.
See all the info in the files section of this group!
Cheers!
Captain Darryl
Boogies Draggin' Butt
Hi all,
Erick Lee from the Great-West Life Dragonhearts here!
I was hoping that someone could help us out. One of our male paddlers
is going to be out of town a lot this month, and as a result it looks
like he's going to be missing 2 of our 3 scheduled practices. I was
wondering if any team has an open slot in one of their boats, for a
practice during the week of Aug.21 - Aug.25? If you don't mind him
sitting in, that would help him make his 2/3 quota.
Let me know!
And a big congrats to Captain Darryl and the Boogies team!
Thanks,
Erick
Is happening on Saturday, August 12.
See the info in the files section of this group.
All Dragon Boaters participating in the FMG, 2006 Dragon Boat Festival
are welcome.
If you need somewhere to dispose of those nasty free beer tickets, I
will be happy to solve that problem for you!
FREE pork on a bun will also be served!!
Bring some cash for the "Dunk Tank" too!
Grand Master Scott and River Queen Kelly will be in the tank raising
cash for charity. It would seem that I will also be taking a turn in
the tank. Its all for a good cause, so pitch a ball or 2 at your fav
(or not so fav) Dragon Boat type person.
If anybody wants to volunteer to help work the docks during FMG
practices and has some time to spare, I'm looking for some good people
who would like to get involved!
Its a great way to meet other Dragon Boaters, at the same time learn
some new Dragon Boat "stuff" that you may not learn within the
confines of your own team practices.
Male or female, no experience required. Its actually very fun.
If u are interested, you can call me at 336-0354 and we can chat.
Ah, the sun, the fun, the comeraderie of Dragon Boat.
Its a short season, so get involved and meet some new friends!
Darryl Ludwig...Dock Monkey wrangler.
On behalf of the Boogie's team, thank you for your kind words and
thanks you for posting the awards pictures.
Congratulations to all teams that participated in the River City
Dragon Boat Festival.
It was a great time. Its fun to be back in the water and once again
see the Manitoba Dragon Boat Community raising money for such
worthwhile causes.
With that being said, remember that there are still 2 remaining Dragon
Boat competitions in Winnipeg this summer (Brandon and Winnipeg), and
also another competition just across the border in Grand Forks.
Thats 3 more reasons to get out the butt pads, hangover remedies and
body spray, and raise some more money for charity.
Stay tuned for an announcement for a big event happening at Boogie's
Sports Bar just prior to the FMG event. It will be an opportunity for
all teams to come down for some last minute trash talk, games, food,
and prizes before we once again leave it on the river!
Its that time when all Dragon Boaters dream of getting back into the
water and competing.
To do that you need MONEY!
If your team is looking for an easy, fun and effective way to raise
funds, consider having your team Fundraiser at Boogies Sports Bar,
located on the corner of Redwood and main.
Its easy, fun, theres virtually no risk for you to lose money, no
clean up, and you dont have to worry about liquor permits.
Raise enough money in 1 night to fund the next 2 years competition
registration fees!
For more info call Boogies @ 586-6599, or email to this site with any
questions and we will forward the info to you.
The Civil Serpents are hosting a fundraising social & silent auction
on
Friday, May 5th at Coyotes Nite Club, located at 1931 Pembina Hwy.
Tickets
are only $10 (includes complimentary steak, suds & bud), and are
available at
the door from 5pm-8pm. A portion of the proceeds from this social will
be
going towards Cancer Care Manitoba, Kidsport, and the Canadian Cancer
Society.
Hmm, on second reading I'm thinking that should say steak, spud & bud,
but if its double beer, then I'M THERE!!!
Hi all,
Some people couldn't open the file in the other format, so I changed it
to a document file so everyone should be able to see it and pass it
onto their teammates.
Thanks and cheers!
Cap'n Darryl
