subject: winter league?

hi all,

jason shiotsu gave me your group email address. i've come out to lake
hollywood a few times, and i've played more at woodland hills on sunday
mornings and in agoura hills m/w/f.

anyway, jason said some of you all might be interested in joining a winter
league team, and us woodland hills peeps are trying to put one together. we
have a great group of guys and a few girls in woodland hills, and we're
trying to form a team, but are having a little trouble filling the roster.
we have about half a team right now. if you are at all interested in
playing on my team, this
would be a one night a week commitment for a few weeks starting in january,
and i guarantee, a good time. please email me if you have any questions
and/or are potentially interested. only about 40% of our current players
have ever played in a league before, so we'll have a pretty relaxed
atmosphere.

plus, if you play on my team, you might get lucky: my summer league team won
the championship! so what if it didn't have much to do with me!

i hope you're all doing well, and i look forward to playing with you
sometime.

take care,
david

Hello Ultimate Players,

Now that we have mastered the sport of Ultimate Frisbee, I think it is important that we work on our dancing and drinking skills.  Anyone that can make it this Saturday night to The Standard, Downtown LA please send me an e-mail with the names of people that will be attending so I can get them on a list to The Standard. The club is on the roof so bring your jacket if you get cold.

Location:  The Standard @ 6th & Flower, LA                                                                          Time & Date: Saturday, Nov 13th @ 9pm or whatever

You can call me if you have any questions.  It should be a lot of fun!

I'm guessing the field is a bit muddy but I'm planning on playing today.
Let's get an official headcount in case anyone's scared off by the "weather"
we had last night.

I don't know how many of the Sunday players are actually on this list but
I'm gonna send this message to the old email list, too.

Okay, I'll start the headcount. Ready?

Sheldon here.

Okay, currently it's 10 pm Saturday night. It's starting to drizzle a bit.
However, I'm ignoring it. The way I see it, it's not actually raining if I
deny it.

In any case, I guess sometime around mid-day tomorrow (Sunday), we should
all chime in with an update and a headcount.

Pray for (NO) rain.

Well, if you hadn't noticed, the LA Premiere of my film is in the middle of
tomorrow's
game! I'd hate to make you choose between supporting quality independent cinema
and
running around like monkeys in the sun.... but it was out of my hands. :-)

The game will always be there but this is a one-time only screening. Suffice to
say, I won't
be there tomorrow.... And if you miss the show, I'll know who you are!

Was there a game this past Sunday? A good one? Or was everyone out of town
like me
during Labor Day weekend? OR, was lack of attendance the last straw that bred
the
inception of this yahoo group?

I'll be there next Sunday for certain. I think.

It's BBQ time! Summer's cooling down and politics is heating up, which means
it's time to
break out the 100% charcoal grill and get cookin'...

I almost threw a Labor Day party, but why ruin my own holiday to host a party
nobody will
attend because they're out of town or at somebody else's superior, fancy-panty
shindig?
Then it hit me--

  What: BBQ
When: Saturday after Labor Day, the 11th
  Time: around 3-4pm... until...???
Theme: unpretentiousness

  It's the Unpretentious BBQ!

LEAVE: Your status symbols, celebrity anecdotes, dietary restrictions, and

BRING: Your favorite foods, drinks, and friends! (And if this weather keeps up,
ice is nice!)

Enjoy the most unpretentious music, people, food, and fun you'll have all year!

Bring/invite friends, but please be nice and RSVP to randy@... so

So here's the list, at long last...!

Couple of things for the group--

- Unfortunately, I only had Sheldon's email list from last year to take email
addresses
from, which only had 17 names on it, so LOTS of regulars weren't invited.
Please, spread
the word-- tell every ultimate player you know about this new list! I know a lot
of folks
know at least one or two people from outside the game, so please give 'em a
heads-up so
they can sign up.
