Tour de France - my dad's assessment...

Hey all - Thought you might get a chuckle over this email I recently got from my dad (below). He followed up this email with a phone call - he's adamant that someone explain the Tour to the American public!  If anyone knows of a good Tour de France 101 website or book let me know!

Also - one other question - when is the best time to buy a new bike in terms of when bike shops are trying to get rid of old models (and therefore there might be big sales)?  A friend of mine just asked me this and I said Nov/Dec but I'm not sure if that's the best time.

Happy riding!
Jen

I`ve been trying to follow the tour de france and I don`t get it.t. Everyday there is a few guys that break from the pack. They get way ahead and then with a couple kilometers to go they actually race to the finish line, that’s cool. But later I find out that even though they won the race Lance Armstrong is still in 3rd place. He was way back in the pelotron. Its all very confusing. I`d really like to see Lance actually win a days race. But he must be doing pretty good he`s in 3rd place. If the powers that be made it a little more understandable sport it`d get better ratings.  Dad

There is actually a book called "The Tour de France for Dummies", not that your dad is a dummy. There is also "The Tour de France Companion" written by Bob...
