Well, while you guys were having fun through the cones, I was at home
working on both the Accord and the Mustang, which I'm prepping to yank
the motor out of with the help of Timmi. I also was glued to the TV
with Grand Am, ALMS, IRL, and even a little NASCAR. It was a great
racing weekend for us all. The big question is-

Which car will Jamison Motorsports bring to the June event: the
'Stang or the 'Ccord? Stay Tuned...

We do need more drivers though. Tell your friends, family and

to it.

The YIKES discussion almost jinxed me. Wouldn't you know I would end up
being the guy that almost takes out the fence at SGMP. LOL I had
Ashley's BF in the car with me for his first ever ride at an auto-x. I
was coming into the optional gate near the far end at 55-60 MPH and
that sucker just came out from under me. When the dust and dirt settled
on the dash so I could see again I could have reached out and touched
the chain link fence. Alls well that ends well. I didn't wreck and we
all had fun.

Ashley got some instruction from Rob I. and came within 3 1/2 seconds
of me on her final run. Might be a new SM queen in the making if I can
afford to keep tires on the beast. Thanks Rob!

Thanks to all that worked so hard to put on the event.

Hi All, This is my first DA post. This GT3 crash is
the worst I have ever seen at an autocross. My limited
insurance knowledge has me to believe that the clubs
insurance protects them from the damage to the
location, and any medical that they could be liable
for. I don't think they will cover any of the
participants cars unless it was under some special
circumstances that a lawyer could fight for, such as
course negligence. But no scenario is perfect. We all
have seen spin outs that damaged cars and almost
people and other cars. Just about anything at 85Mph
can happen. :P

After looking at those videos it seems to me the guy
in the GT3 had at least 3 seconds before he hit the
cars. I mean if he is experienced, like they claim,
then he sure can heal/toe break. Unless you have a
MAJOR brain fart your other foot is always available.
Whos to say if he should have been in that car or not,
but for sure its a tragedy!

Hey Sandy-
It's been a while since I read the insurance info for a Solo event,
but I think I remember that the event insurance covers "property
damage" as a result of an accident at the event, meaning if you hit a
tree and tear up your car, SCCA will pay for the TREE... Seriously,
I think they would pay for damages to the site or to spectators cars
(I think) but not to competitors cars. Somebody that REALLY knows
this stuff jump in here and correct me, OK?

Peace, Love & Pushrods-
JD

Makes me wonder about the risks and protection any of us has in case
of an accident at an event.

I recently removed the insurance from my car since it is just a
competition vehicle. I assume the waiver says something to the effect
that you assume all risks if something like this happens. Does
anybody know if the waiver just protects the SCCA or does it protect
participants if they make a mistake.

Competition is compeition. If you go fender to fender racing you
don't have any recourse for a wreck whether you are at fault or not.
How does autocross compare? I know a lot of us have uninsured
competition vehicles. If my daughter or I hit the clutch instead of
the brake and plow into some cars am I liable?

There's a video of the course in the thread now.
The only way that could have happened would be the one explanation
offered: the guy for some reason hit the clutch instead of the brake
pedal.

Maybe they should've kept last year's rides that they gave to Super

Yeah, I would like to purchase rather than borrow, but I'm not rich,
so I still need a good deal. Push come to shove come to slap, I'm
gonna have to borrow eventually, since I still gotta buy whatever
parts I need. Thanks for the tip.

as far as formula one, has honda got a team in formula one this
year??? lolol Perosnally, I figured honda would make a better
showing than thay have. Jenson and Rubins are not slackers and with the
size and power of honda the corp, the money and technology are, or

renault and Toyota. they are closer to Spyker, STR and red bull. Honda

Thanks all you websurfers,

The directions I had were for later model and didn't match the hitch hardware (what hardware I got -- one bolt, two washers -- used is cheap but not necessarily complete).  Also, my car is old enough that it has metal flanges for the spare tire that have to be removed.  Now I know to cut them off.

Trying to put a hitch on a C4 corvette. Have a hitch but need help
with installation. Does anyone know of a shop that might be willing
to work with me on this? I've tried U-haul but they couldn't see how
the hitch would go on. They even checked to confirm it was the right
hitch and yes it was. But without me buying another hitch from them
that would come with directions they just couldn't see it (or do it).

Ideas? Know of a shop that might make me a custom hitch?

I'm not allowed to have THOSE kinds of accessories for it.

ML suspects I'll be lookin fer younger wimmin but I told her not so.
First you have to be able to afford them then you have to be able to
satisfy them and I don't reckon I could do either.

The bike is a Kawasaki Vulcan 800CC Drifter. They made it to look
like the old 40's Indian Chief motorsicles. Don't know what I wuz
thinkin when I bought it but there was this 37 Indian offered to me
when I wuz a youngan and I couldn't afford but I never forgot it.
Soooooooo when I saw this thing I just had to take it home.
