The Moab Desert Paradise Hat Tournament has an expanded theme:
Hawaii/Beach/Water Fight, so bring your aloha wear, bring your swim trunks, and
bring your water guns, water balloons and launchers and prepare to get wet. And
did I mention, the winners of the tournament get a free raft trip on the
Colorado River on Sunday. In addition, if you are a serious climber, bring your
gear for a sweet canyoneering trip unofficially led by a professional
canyoneering guide. Moab is only 5 hours from Denver or Boulder, and 6 from
Albuquerque, so skip out of work an hour or two early, show up at Canyonlands
Campground, 555 S. Main in Moab, and join us pool side for drinks and if you
show up early enough, we will have the grill fired up. Register at the
campground on Friday, so you can sleep in, before strolling over to the fields
in the morning for fruit, bagels, coffee, orange juice, PBJ sandwiches, etc.
The campground is right next to the Grand County
High School, 608 South 400 East, so you can leave your car. Shower at the High
School before returning to the campground for burgers, veggie burgers, brats,
salad and dessert, not to mention multiple libations.
Tourney fee is just $20, and you don't have to camp at the campground, but we've
got a group rate, just $10 per night for the first person, and $8 a person if
you have 3 or more. If you want to show up early and mountain bike, rock climb,
hike, raft, etc. let me know and I will meet up with you or put you in touch
with locals or other out of towners who are doing the same thing.
