ATTENTION ULTIMATE PLAYERS: Looking for the Ultimate road trip? (August
30-31) Last year the Durango Labor Day Hat had 53 male and 47 female
participants; here are a few of the reasons why:
The party starts on Thursday with pickup in the evening, which flows into
nighttime disc, using the full Flashflight setup including illuminated
cones, disc, headbands, armbands and even waist bands. Once you are done,
head over to Steamworks, one of Durango's finest microbreweries for $1
pints. Friday morning, join us for a mountain bike ride, river float, hike,
rock climbing, or road ride through one of the beautiful valleys surrounding
Durango. Friday afternoon we have a goaltimate game till dark when we head
out to the local hot springs for the welcome party, then head up to the
campground we take over for the weekend. Saturday morning the tourney
starts, and after a full day of play, we head to the Rec Center for free
showers, hot tubbing, playing in the pool, and hitting the waterslide. Once
you are good and relaxed, head out to SKA Brewing for Burgers, Brauts,
salads, lots of free beer, and a Karaoke contest in addition to a live band
or DJ. Before you get too drunk, head back to the campground for more free
booze or check out Durango's nightlife. Did I mention that Durango has more
bars then New Orleans, per capita. ( I made that up, but it very well could
be true) :).
Sunday morning, we don't start until 10:00 so you can sleep off your
hangover, but if you show up at 8:00, you get first picks on the pancake
breakfast at the fields. Quarters, semis and finals before we head back out
to the hotsprings and then the campground again. Monday morning we have
little disc golf tournament, or you can easily find a local guide for any of
the activities mentioned earlier. Did I mention the tourney only costs $25
and you also get a free limited edition disc.
The University of New Mexico and University of Northern Arizona women's team
bring all their rookies to our tournament and tell me that it is by far the
best recruiting tool they have ever found. And this year we are having a
competion between Ft. Collins, Boulder, Denver, and Colorado Springs;
whichever city has the most players at our Hat this year will win large
amounts of free booze, in addition to all the free beer we provide. There
will be an seperate contest for all other Colorado towns.
